If you are like me--new to the necessary funeral planning experience, then I can wholeheartedly recommend Whitney-Murphy Funeral Home, a family-owned enterprise, with fifth generation family members serving those who are at their lowest time of loss of their loved ones. I reached out to Whitney-Murphy about two weeks before my beloved 91 year old mother passed from this earthly life to her heavenly one; and, I connected with Amanda, who is the daughter of co-owner Sean Murphy. Amanda is AMAZING! She was not only present with a consultative listening ear, she was also deeply empathic and practically efficient. Her standard of professional excellence matched my own work ethic and we collaborated very well on behalf of my mother's wishes and those of our family. I had a hands-on approach to the funeral planning, attending all details with mindfulness and quality of attention. Amanda also demonstrated this ethic, as evidenced by her willingness to share the process, invite new ideas, and support me throughout the entire experience. The whole experience helped me to see how a personal touch at a such a vulnerable time is essential! Very few funeral homes are of this quality and accommodation. I highly recommend this funeral home, no matter whether you are planning in advance, such as pre-paid funerals, or you are caught having to plan as you experience sudden grief and loss. Their premises are beautiful, including two chapels, a small one and a larger one, both of which we used for services. They have established good working relationships with members of the clergy and were deeply respectful of our wishes and those of my deceased mother. Amanda was exceptional! And, this is a direct reflection of her father's leadership and service. May Whitney-Murphy continue to flourish in the spirit of service and...
Read moreI would like to thank Shawn Murphy and the staff of Whitney and Murphy for their genuine caring and compassionate service they provided to my family and I. We lost my Father in 2021 and during this very difficult time, the sincerity of the service they provided, gave us great comfort and peace. There is a great deal of stress that comes with planning a funeral as making difficult decisions is part of the process. With that being said, Shawn and his staff guided my family and I into making the best decisions for each and every aspect of my Father's services. They didn't want us to rush into decisions, instead they gave us space as well as reinforced the importance of every decision as they did not want us to walk away with any regrets. My Mother then passed away a year later in December of 2022 and we had great confidence that she would be in great hands with Whitney and Murphy as they would once again provide exceptional care and service. Shawn thanked us for the trust we have in allowing him and his staff to care for our parents, however I would like offer my sincere thanks and appreciation to him and his staff. They assisted with planning Beautiful services for both of my parents and the preparations they made to prepare my parents for their viewings were exceptional. We received many compliments on the services, reception and Father Kevin Dilworth. The staff continues to follow up with me to ask how we are doing and offer any assistance we may need. The loss of a loved one is very difficult and emotional, and having Shawn and his staff available to assist during the loss of my parents was truly a...
Read moreFrom the moment we walked into Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, I knew it was the right place to say our final goodbye to my brother, Robert. During our initial meeting, Donna guided us through every step of the pre-arrangement process with care and clarity—explaining all the available options, breaking down each package, and ensuring that everything was thoughtfully arranged in advance so we could feel at ease when the time came.
After my brother passed, I received a compassionate call from Barb, our Funeral Director, who kept me informed every step of the way—from his transfer from the hospital to his arrival at the facility. When I met with her in person to finalize the details, Barb was warm, patient, and incredibly comforting. She walked me through what was needed for the service—photos, music, and more—and made sure nothing was overlooked.
On the day of the memorial, Barb was there to welcome us and ensured everything went exactly as planned. The chapel was set up beautifully, with Robert’s favorite country music playing and a touching slideshow of photos. He looked peaceful, and it meant so much to our family and friends to have that moment. Barb stayed close throughout, ready to help with anything we needed.
Losing a loved one is never easy, but I can’t imagine going through it without the support of the team at Whitney & Murphy. Donna and Barb were more than professionals—they were a source of comfort during one of the hardest times in our lives. If you're looking for a funeral home in Phoenix that truly cares, I can’t recommend...
