Update 8/26/2023 Everything has been resolved and an inconvenience fee has been issued.
Our cabin experience was way below our expectations. The light bulbs were out completely in our bathroom upstairs over the toilet. No big deal at first thought.
This simple thing was a bigger problem with the overall neglect the cabin has endured in regards to cleaning. Resolution: I called and they promptly sent someone to look at the light to fix it and it was fixed in no time. Our floor register for the HVAC upstairs in our bedroom had no air coming through. This was tended to before we got there with a small window unit. At first glance it seemed fine, but the closer I got to the window unit the more it became clear that this unit had been used dirty and never had been cleaned. The filter was caked with dirt and debris.
Resolution: I called the office and they apologized and stated the AC had broke and the window unit was placed there Monday. We checked in on Friday. The least they could’ve done was get a window unit that was clean. They then sent the same worker to come and address the issue. Their “fix” was to “clean” the ac and put another window unit in the upstairs across from our bedroom. This made no sense. They should have removed the ac unit that was dirty and replaced it with the clean one they installed on the other end of the cabin. There was a severe storm that came through and for some reason our thermostat went completely out for the whole cabin. I feel this may have been something that may have just happened to anyone but so much happened I thought I’d be neutral and include this in the review. Resolution: I called and they sent an HVAC technician to come address the issue. He fixed it and was on his way. I understand we are in the “Heart of Tennessee” but a cockroach is a cockroach. We found one just hanging out in the kitchen next to the trash can. We caught and killed it. It was shown to the worker that replaced our ac unit and nothing came about from it. The office would’ve most likely said this was a wood cockroach which is listed in their terms and agreements. My father in law and I both agreed this was most likely a regular cockroach because of the length of its wings. This is my opinion but if a cockroach is out in the open there must be an infestation of them. In regards to the cabin being “pet friendly”it’s not. There is absolutely no where for a pet to use the restroom. We paid a fee to have a pet come and stay. That fee that’s paid by their guests should be used to have exterminators come and someone to come sew grass for the pets to relieve themselves.
This was a birthday trip for my wife and it was a sour experience.
On the positive note. The workers I talked to at the Chalet office were super friendly, helpful and cooperative. To wrap up I am someone who takes a lot of thought and care into my trips. I’m very intentional and I feel as if my money would have had so much more value had it been spent at a basic no name hotel. The terms and agreements make it super clear that they WOULD NOT refund or discount in any shape or form. I get people try and take at advantage of businesses, but I’m not that kind of person. I work hard for my income and I feel like I got a short short end...
Read moreWe stayed in our rental, Bears View, Unit 15. At first glance walking in, it was 12 in the morning by the time we arrived, mind you, everything seemed alright. Lights in the “game room” didn’t want to turn on. The TV in my folks room just didn’t want to work. There were hoops you had to jump through just to get the tv to change channels. For some unknown reason, the room my fiancé and I, had a massive window to… get this, MY FOLKS BATHROOM. That gave us nice ambient toilet flushes throughout the night. Not to mention the light would shine through our blinds above our heads waking us up. Coming home that night, after a long day walking pigeon forge, we were excited to come back to a nice hot tub. HOWEVER upon getting in, the water was ice cold (heater didn’t work), the jets did not work. So that was a night without the hot tub. The next day we put in a request for the Tub. We were told that night, it was fixed and that there was “air in the line” and that it was working. Again, long day, come back, still ice cold, no jets… “fixed” the next day we told them again and added the tv to our list of issues. That evening we received ANOTHER confirmation (via phone call) that the hot tub should be fixed. Only for a few hours later to receive an email saying that they needed to send out a specialist to look at it. So was it fixed or not. Make up your minds. So, ANOTHER night without a hot tub. The next day. My father and I went into the office to speak to someone face to face. We were told that someone was there looking into it as we spoke. That night, we got back, tried the hot tub, heat finally worked, and some of the jets were somewhat working. But chugging to keep up. There was no force whatsoever. Tried playing some pool up stairs. But depending on where you were standing, you couldn’t even use the pool sticks because you are hitting a wall depending on where your standing. There were too many things up there, making it difficult to stand and play pool, there was a deer hunting arcade game, didn’t turn on, couldn’t turn it on, couldn’t even figure out what it was even there for since it didn’t work. They came into the room of my fiancé and I and replaced our xfinity remote when we said the remote in the MASTER BEDROOM didn’t work properly, they for some unknown reason decided to mess with ours too causing a whole load of issues with our tv. The view on the actual porch was covered by trees so you couldn’t see it unless you were standing up stairs in the living room looking out the window which you can now tell is the photo they used for the website. And to make up for the lack of a hot tub, (which we paid extra for), a window leading to the crapper of my parents room, OH and let me not forget the workers next to us in the cabin who left large wood screws, nail gun nails surrounding my car, and sending them pictures via email, our refund was $56. “Inconvenience fee” they called it. Nothing but a bunch of con artist who apparently think they can run a cabin rental service. Do NOT go with these folks. Avoid at all cost. Even the neighbors we had agreed this company is a sham....
Read morePerky Peaks Lodge We rented this beautiful cabin for the 2024 Jeep Invasion in Pigeon Forge, TN. , and as a place to stay for this crazy adventure it did not totally disappoint, but there are some caveats, which I will get to in a moment, but first..the good. As I already stated, the cabin is beautiful, and when it was built, probably had a great view which has become somewhat blocked by tree growth around it. The rental process online went smoothly, the management staff was pleasant and responsive to our needs, and we felt the price not unreasonable for this event. The location was perfect, just outside town with easy access to groceries, fuel, and eateries without having to drive back into the madness of thirty thousand Jeepers fighting for places in line in Pigeon Forge. The beds and other furniture are comfy, the AC worked well, the kitchen is well-stocked with cookware, dinnerware, and appliances, and the cabin has lots of room to accommodate however many folks you may bring with you. Bathrooms are large and utile, with nice showers and a large, jetted tub upstairs. Though we didn't use them, there are four massive TVs that I'm certain would entertain those so inclined and the loft had a great, electronic game table that provided hours of fun (we liked it so much that we bought one when we got home). WiFi works well and is so necessary as there is very weak cell service. The three decks are nicely furnished and the hot tub looked inviting, though it was too warm outside for us to actually use it. So, all-in-all a great experience? Almost, except for those caveats. To be fair, I'll emphasize here again that the management staff was very responsive to our concerns, but I'm of the mind that things should be taken care of BEFORE I arrive for my stay in your VRBO. So here's my list: Every sink is very slow to drain. The upstairs toilet has a broken flapper and had to be flushed by hand. Two outlets, on either side of the kitchen sink, do not work, even though the one on the right also has the disposal switch next to it which did work. The Hamilton Beach drip coffee maker has a Mr Coffee pot. Problem? The pot is not tall enough to depress the flow regulator in the basket...#coffee all over the counter. Three insulated plastic glasses, in the cupboard, are cracked...#water all over the coffee table in the living area. The walls and ceiling are paper thin. The alarm system loudly announces the opening of every door: no sneaking out in the early morning without awakening the entire place. The cabin's electrics are very dated; there is only one powered USB port, and it is well hidden behind the living room TV, in the WiFi modem, so don't forget your phone charger (guilty). I admit these are niggles, and were it not for having to manually place the flapper over the outlet in the toilet tank and clean up the overflowing coffee, without actually getting to drink coffee that early in the morning, all while being yelled at by a d@%#! alarm system for opening the door, I probably would have forgiven the rest and given more stars. After all... it is a...
