While the theming was solid the first half was atrocious. The theming is you’re going insane in a mine and they do a great job with the special effects. But let’s get to the ride it’s self. You start in the dark and go around some turns and and small dips as the restraints play pinball with your head. You then enter a vertical lift hill and as you prepare for the beyond vertical drop that they show in the POV’s, it literally isn’t even there anymore. What’s weird is that there are still remains from the overbank turn after the drop just sitting there, waiting to be used. Then you just meander around waiting to get to the second half. Now let’s get to reason that this review this has a 3-Star review and not a one star. As you enter the darkness again, you are greeted with another vertical lift hill. As you get to the top, spewing fire come out (again credits to Dollywood for great jobs with the special effects work). You guys down a 95° drop in the dark and enter a heart line roll and a great finale with insane hangtime on the dive loop. Now would a recommend this ride; Now if the ride has an

It touches in on historical facts about mining such as how miners often died from unscented poisonous gasses that would fill the chambers so they would keep a canary in a cage which would sing knowing if the whisteling stopped the gasses had killed the bird and they had to evacuate before it's too late. Thus you hear a miner's warning of no whisteling and see signs enforcing the rule and durring the ride you are surrounded by a vapor and see a animatronic canary fall from its perch. You are then carried up the mineshaft to the exit only to find it has been blocked off when a windmill blew over in a storm. It shows a certain respect to the real dangers miners had (and still have) to face daily to provide for their families.
Unfortunately the coaster is also a bit jerky. The over the shoulder restraints are perfect for pounding the sides of your head on as it speeds through the drops and loops. And after your fith ride you will look like the head master of a British boading school gave your ears a boxing you'll never forget. But, hey, it's a roll coaster not a...
Read moreWell now, let me tell ya, I reckon Mystery Mine at Dollywood is one of the wildest, most unique contraptions I ever did lay eyes on! I been ridin’ coasters fer years, but this here one’s got a twist that’ll leave ya hollerin’ louder than a coyote in a canyon.
It ain’t no ordinary ride, folks—no sir. You start out slow, creepin’ through the ol’ abandoned mine shafts, and just when ya think it’s all calm, BAM! That vertical climb hits ya like a pickaxe to the back. Straight up to the sky, and then, quicker than a mule on the run, you plunge straight into the depths of the mine! Twists, turns, and a few surprises await, I tell ya. It’s darker than a miner’s camp at midnight down there, and ya never know what’s comin’ next!
The whole themin’ is top-notch, too—makes ya feel like yer explorin’ a real abandoned mine, only this time, instead of gold, you’re strikin’ pure adrenaline! There’s fire, there’s a near-vertical drop, and enough thrills to make even the most seasoned rider clutch their hat.
I ain’t kiddin’ when I say this here coaster’s somethin’ special. One-of-a-kind, just like those gold nuggets we used to dream of. Five stars all the way—don’t miss yer chance to ride, or...
