Probably my favorite Commonplace in the city! Though I am biased since it's the closest to my apartment.
The coffee is always wonderful here and the breakfast burritos are pretty great too! There is plenty of seating though it can get pretty busy at times. Luckily there is outdoor seating in the little square of Rockwell Park as well, which works to alleviate the strain inside if the weather is nice.
One negative is that the bathrooms are in the lobby of the main building and they're closed on the weekends. At that point you need a little fob from the staff to use the single bathroom in the bike room.
Another negative is that sometimes the music is a bit loud though this depends on where your seated. It's a large space so if you're under one of them then it can be a bit annoying. Another loud thing is groups. For whatever reason this spot seems to have rushes of throngs of people more often than the...
Read moreMy first time visiting the Commonplace Coffee in Rockwell Park. We were participating in a Saturday art show upstairs in the same building, so the location was very convenient for me and many other visitors. The was a decent line when I arrived, but things moved quickly as they were well staffed. I ordered a large peppermint mocha off the special menu as well as a cinnamon roll. Both were pretty good. The mocha wasn't too hot when I got it like at some places, but that allowed me to try it right away. Not too strong of a peppermint flavor which I know scares some people away from trying such seasonal drinks, so this could be a good one for first timers to try. That place was nice with plenty of seating and a big garage door that can open in...
Read moreIt's always a bummer to walk into a coffee house and have the staff be kinda rude. Maybe it's this places business model? Maybe they want to be snooty based on my appearance? I'm not sure, I came in for a cup of coffee during my lunch break and while the coffee is good, the staff is cold and unwelcoming. I'm gonna go ahead and say they don't really like it when more blue collar folks come in because the baristas seemed pretty friendly to the white collar folks, etc who were in there on laptops. Disappointing because I live in the neighborhood and I was looking forward to supporting a local business. Starbucks is always friendly, I guess I'll go there because they treat everyone the...
