When I worked at UPMC at the Quantum Building, I would regularly take lunch walks through this riverside park. I would walk down to birmingham bridge and walk back to the office. It's a nice park with a lot of shade, but I would still bring a hat or sunglasses on a hot sunny day. Parking here is very very limited. They should add more benches along the trail for more seating space, but since most people run or ride their bike through the park they aren't concerned about seating. I will say, the lower trail is muddy (the trail that leads to the marina) so do not walk there during or after the rain! Also, they don't really maintain the lower trail as well as the upper paved trail. In one section of the lower trail (at the marina), the grass became very tall and overgrew into the trail and ate half of the path. They really need to cut that grass so there's more...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTO whom it may concern, So we use the bike path that go's from Sand Castle reight past the Steeler / Pitt training center. and let me tell you within that stretch the Tree Roots are making this portion of the trail , bike path etc. a REAL HAZARD . Something needs to be done before someone gets sent into the fence or the river ! The whole trail needs milled and Re- Paved . I tried calling the city of Pittsburgh and they told me that certain portions of the trail are owned by different municipalities .Sounds like nobody wants to take responsibility unless you live in a tent and are homeless . I'm pretty sure the people that ride bikes in and around Pittsburgh bring in alot of revenue to the city between dinning , bike stops for parts , lodging and the list go's on and on. So hopefully someone of importance reads this and takes...

Kris, me and the kids had a great down there feeding the ducks and watching the boats getting put in river. Normally, this turns out to be fun for all of us. Except for yesterday, due to the holiday, it was absolutely too damned crowded. Better luck next time...
