The two-story, red-brick building was designed in 1909 by Alden & Harlow, Pittsburghâs leading architectural firm at the time. The attendance during the first 10 days of the locationâs opening was 10,497 people! They were stocked with books in several foreign languages, since the majority of the community were new immigrants. CLPâSouth Side was among the first neighborhood locations in the Library system and still houses its original furniture from 1908 and was once used as an air-raid shelter in World War II. All of the woodwork in the renovated building, even the window frames, is original. South Side was also the first home of the Helen Keller Book Clubs in the 1920s, which rewarded children for reading and giving oral reports. Rich with history, this location is a community hub filled with events, classes and great stories.

I know for sure Iâll never go to that library again. She didnât have to give me a dirty look! Next time I go to the eye doctor, if I have something to print out, I will definitely go to...

Then the staff there just came up to me and said very loud and rude: "can you not take pictures of our customers?" I don't even want to mentioned that I didn't take any pictures of their customers. Another thing is that I was a customer there as well. Am I supposed to be treated like that? Is that the first thing a staff should say to a customer? Or maybe she just think I am Asian, so she can be rude to me. Very bad...
