to start off, the music selection here is great. the game selection is also good. however, there must be no protocol for checking games, testing them or even making sure the correct game is in the case. i paid $45 for starfox adventures, they sold me a controller they googled to make sure would work, it didnt, had to return that. frustrating, but understandable that is water under the bridge. finally i get the av to hdmi adapter elsewhere, put in the game, and realized it is not even the right starfox game. i sent my partner back to make a return and the employee said “this happens a lot”??? its almost as if there could be something done about that lol. anyways, they would not give my money back, so they are ordering a copy for me online, which i could have just done myself for $20. this was my first time at this store and there is a charm in walking in a retro game store and picking out the game and getting to play it same day. too bad they are not doing literally anything to put it above just ordering it for cheaper online and possibly getting a bunk copy, which i could have done twice over with the $45 i paid for the game...
Read moreThis store is a joke.
Went to check out some video games and get some appraised for selling. For buying, compared to prices at other sites for used games online, they charge nearly DOUBLE what an item is really worth.
As for bringing in items to sell, they will offer you less than 50% of what you could get for it elsewhere online (even with fees and shipping costs taken into account). I was told my games were "all quite a bit scratched up" and that's why their offer was so low. All my discs were in very good to mint condition, and will fetch their true value by selling elsewhere online. So not only is this store low-balling, they're rude to their customers.
Might be a different experience for music and movies, but for video games, stay FAR FAR AWAY from this store, it's obvious they prey on people who haven't done their research on the market value for...
Read moreThis place is amazing and its a shame that people assume their used games are ALWAYS in 'mint' condition. I know for a fact that when I went to sell some common PS2 games in 08 when I moved to Southside and more recently in 2014 when I dropped off old XBox 360 games, the prices they offered were comparable or better by $3-5 than what was offered at major retailers and online.
Sorry Mike R, your games indeed must have been scratched as mine were in 'good' condition and they made no such similar comment. You either had a bar cashier or you're misleading people. I'm going to assume they offered you a fair price but, because you wanted more, you decided to take to google to complain.
Don't believe the hate, I've shopped there probably 10-20 times in 8 years and they are...
