City Theatre Company — Attraction in Pittsburgh

We ended up here by accident. Husband's error. Our plan was to leave after the lights dimmed. Three minutes into the play, Birthday Candles, and we were hooked. We laughed. We cried. We cried some more. The performance exceeded my expectations! It was my 55th birthday. I didn't realize how much I needed this play in my life. Great venue! Bring a wrap, ladies. Everyone was pleasant. Exit from the parking wasn't too bad. The surrounding neighborhood was meh but felt safe. I've gone to theaters in LA, Atlanta, Cleveland, etc. We'll definitely go back to Pittsburgh to experience more phenomenal...

We saw One Night in Miami (playing through December 1) -- Don't miss this play. It is really a wonderfully written and acted piece of theater. The actor who played Sam Cooke had a gorgeous, rich voice. The actor who played Mohammed Ali captured the pitch of his personality perfectly -- truly the Greatest! The actors portraying Malcolm X and Jim Brown were well cast and also excellent, excellent, excellent. The play just worked so well to provide the essence of the era and the personalities. We have been subscribers to the City Theatre for over 20 years. We love the seasonal subscription because it forces us to take a date night at least once per month. We generally get dinner on the South Side and then attend the show. They always have something fresh and pertinent. You can get a cocktail before the show and mingle in the lobby area where they generally have some type of interactive game or activity that coordinates along with the show or the theme.
