Depends on if you are in a betting mood. Your chances are 60/40. 40% guaranteed to get high quality fried food blasted with a "special seasoning" which has so much acidity to it that it burns your tongue. In fact, if they gave you ketchup, I would say that this is a fabulous place which would leave you craving it and coming back for more. Even the slenderest packet of ketchup would alleviate the burning sensation and make it excellent. You are, however, 100 % guaranteed to never see even an empty ketchup packet from this establishment. (Even if they call about your order looking to replace something they've run out off, and you remind them very specifically about the ketchup. ) Yes, expect none of the standard sauces typically served with fried food. You are 100% guaranteed to never see a ketchup package from this establishment which specializes in fish and chips. On the downside, you are 60% likely to get overcooked, previously frozen foods slam dunked into a fryer set to the wrong temperature. So, get your dice out and see if you're lucky. If you win, you win.

When you walk in the doors of HFC for the first time, you're not sure what to expect based on the unassuming nature of the establishment, but I promise, it’s by far more prodigious than you may expect. I got my favorite, the cat fish. I feel it necessary to report that the catfish isn't quite as thick or moist as I remember it being from my last visit. I was expecting the golden brown crispy crust coating the overflowing white mounds of succulent fish flesh, but the filets being so thin, that wasn't quite the same experience. Still, the fries are exactly what they need to be, crispy, deep golden, and delicious. 11/10, would dine here again and happily destroy my diet and reputation if necessary to get my grubby paws on some of the best fried food the city has to offer.

This humble looking establishment serves the crispiest, most delicious, most flavorful fries I’ve ever had in my life. Has to be this one in Homewood. Life changing. I dunno what they use to fry it or what the crack powder is on top but I’ll always come back to this one!!! The catfish is not bad either but my faves are the fries.

There is a term that says..." you only get one chance to make a good impression?" CLEARLY this hook and fish fell WELL short on the impression... not only was my online order ( which i entered in 1 hour before the pick up time was not complete, the person at the counter said 10 minutes … But after TWENTY minutes, and after receiving my order....the Fish and Chicken which I ordered had NO seasoning for taste, no Coleslaw in the Tray, no utensils or condiments in the bag and multiple feathers on the wingtips of the chicken and Multiple Bones and SCALES on the fish(whiting)…. for the price I paid, this was DEFINITELY not up to standard compared to other "Hook fish & Chicken" I have been to and ordered from before...this location leaves a lot to be desired and more over a Possible potential customer in me you surely...

I am pretty snobby about food, but when you drive past this place, it looks fairly iffy, and when you go inside, its a little strange. But I need to give it 5 starts

1st off, the two guys inside are cool as hell and very nice. Has a great selection.

I played it safe, I got Chicken Tenders and Fries just to test the waters. I feared frozen stuff, but nope.

The Chicken Tenders were all white meat, clearly very good white meat to. Hand breaded, and clearly fried perfectly, crunchy while still very juicy, the breading had lots of good seasoning to. As did the perfectly crunchy fries. It also had this rewally nice coleslaw with it, and sure it comes with two basic slices of normal bread, but what you do is smear the coleslaw on it, put a half a tender on it, and wrap it like a wrap, and its...
