Been to this location twice and both times there were technical issues with the rooms. The first time a door opened early and we unknowingly skipped a bunch of puzzles in the previous room.
My second visit was the Lost Ruins. If you choose this experience, go with 3-4 people. My group was 7 people and there weren't enough puzzles for us all to solve. The rooms, especially the first, was tiny and we were packed in there. This location bans the use of cell phones, which are useful for both note-taking and light--that first room was dark and they only gave us one lantern to navigate. A little annoying to split one source of light between 7 people. Red Door seems more concerned with cheating with cell phones instead of realizing there's convenience in letting us keep our devices. If people want to cheat, let them! It's their money.
The Lost Ruins gives you a binder full of clues to use on the different puzzles. It felt a little cheap to refer to the clue book, and again it was difficult to use this one book between 7 people. The puzzles didn't string together as well as I've seen in other escape rooms; most of them just relied on the clue book and lacked any depth.
The final puzzle failed to recognize we input the correct sequence. The door was supposed to pop open but it didn't. The gamemaster had to come in, confirm we had the correct answer, and let us out himself. It killed some of the magic of the experience, and for some people in our group this was their first escape room experience and it was a big let down for them. For the steep price of $37/each (almost $40!!) this was one hour of sore disappointment. I can't recommend this location.
Their decorations are top tier and the staff is great, but sadly these are the only thing I can credit...
Read moreEDIT: management has reached out to me to remedy the situation. Mckenzies compassion and accountability has been greatly appreciated and acknowledged. I’m updating my review to reflect my appreciation for her in hopes everything will improve moving forward.
Very cliche saying but - if I could give this place zero stars I would. I went to red door Plano recently for a date night with my boyfriend and was sorely disappointed in wasting $82 on a room of broken puzzles and a game master that clearly wasn’t paying attention to our game, provided unhelpful clues, ignored our multiple complaints throughout the game and disregarded me when I responded at the end with “no I did not have fun”. We did the warriors way and had experienced multiple of the puzzles broken which wasted most of our time, when we loudly acknowledged these issues with our game master over the intercom there was no solution given other than half hearted clues that weren’t beneficial considering the puzzle was broken previously. I won’t fault him for broken equipment, however his customer service and attention was lacking severely during our entire experience. After we finally escaped which felt like a consolation prize considering our upsetting experience, when asked if I had fun I responded with no and was disregarded by our game master, so once we grabbed our things we went out the door considering I had nothing nice to say to him at the time. I wish I stood my ground and requested a refund. Honestly disappointing service and will continue to spend my money at The Escape Game at either grapevine of the colony as they have always provided excellent quality experience and...
Read moreMy husband and I went yesterday (6/2/2020) and did The Gift, we didn’t finish in time, but we had such a great time and experience that we booked another one as soon as we finished!! Since we had about an hour until the next one, we drove over to Starbucks and then went back and did Lost Ruins, which we beat with about a minute and a half to spare!! Everyone working there is doing their part to keep people safe by wearing masks, keeping the social distance when possible, etc, while also being friendly and doing their best to make your experience amazing. Cole was our guide for both rooms and he was very kind and helpful! In fact, we had such a great time that we are going back today!! Definitely would recommend!!
Update: We did The Encounter today and had a great time! Mel helped us out and was so kind and friendly!! Everyone there is!! Unfortunately, we didn’t escape, but we were pretty close. Afterwards, Mel came in and explained the remaining puzzles and even let us try our hand at them!! They have a rewards program that gives you merchandise, percentage off and even freezes time while you are in the...
