Like this place because they provide a variety of west African food. The place is always maintained and well kept. However, service does need a little work. We waited nearly 45-hour for a kiddie box and snack box. There was one other family that was waiting for longer. The hostess was kind, acknowledged guest and children, which was a kind gesture, but would disappear frequently to the back. One customer that came in was ringing the bell quite a few times, to get a workers attention.
Upon receiving the order, it was approaching past 40 minutes, but the hostess did apologize. The kiddie box recieved, $5.50, was well and complete, cold but complete. Had to retrieve own juice box. The snack box was a little disappointing, I only received 2 puff puff, two fish rolls, a kebab, and chinchin. For $9, it did not include the variety of a beef roll or spring roll. An additional fish roll or puff puff was okay…but not when you were expecting to receive 3 types of rolls, puff puff, and kebab. There was no mention of there being items missing or replaced…just handed a closed and stickered box.
This is not my first time visiting. The food is good, but nothing is guaranteed. The food received hasn’t been consistent. On the other hand, the stew with rice and plantains satisfied the taste buds. Took a while to receive, but at the time was worth it.
Previously, there were some items they didn’t have for the kiddie box, and the host was kind enough to inform us. Not only did he inform us, he asked if it was okay to substitute with what they had. This was quality customer service.
So visiting this establishment may be 50/50 in what you’re able to receive, in a timely manner. Food is nice, but there needs to be consistency or informing the guest they don’t have a certain item or need to accommodate. With some small improvements, this place...

I've been here in person once, and the food was good. Though it took over 45 minutes before it came out. So, I figured I'll order online or on phone next time.
Fast forward to about 2 weeks later, I called to order on phone, but the guy I spoke with was very rude and dismissive. He dropped off the phone on me twice while I was still talking to him. I couldn't even describe his behaviour without using ugly words that I won't like to type here.
I would NOT spend my money here anymore and would ensure to discourage those I already told about this place that the food was good. Did I also mention that it's overpriced? I would at least expect a good service if the food is overpriced. But there are better foods and better people out there, and I know a few. I'll certainly be going to them.
SHAME on you Boxochops.
UPDATE: I was back at Boxochops today and I met Vivian. (Vivian, in case you're reading this, I was the one with my two daughters and I was going to try the meatpie. You ended up giving me one just to try and then I ordered some more). Of course, you didn't know I was the one, as I don't like to get free stuff because of a review I previously left. But, I guess you're just a wonderful person, and unbeknownst to you, you just did what wonderful people do (i.e. making people have a pleasant experience when they visit).
Well, to make the long story short, my experience at Boxochops today was phenomenal. Now, I'll certainly be going back again. Also, I didn't see the grumpy guy that gave us a bad experience last time.
I'll be upgrading my previous 1-star rating to a...

I'm so disappointed =/ I drove over 30 min to try this restaurant on a Saturday and deliberately came closer to opening to avoid being told things were "sold out" which had happened when I called to inquire about food items in the past. I was informed that they didn't have much...(no rice plates, no meat pies, no beef rolls). Like everything I wanted or tried to get as an alternative was unavailable. So why is the open sign on if you're not prepared for customers? Why have food in your display case that's not available for immediate purchase? The attendant went on to inform me that the menu was outdated but they did have SPRING ROLLS. Lol I was genuinely confused. Needless to say I left and spent my money at another local restaurant nearby so that I did not entirely waste my gas. Hate I couldn't support this business but I'm def not willing to make that gamble again. Just a suggestion, maybe incorporate start times that foods will be available like rice plates from 2pm etc so that customers don't assume your kitchen is stocked and ready to go when you actually open. I wish this...
