Went here and had a horrible experience. I bought a good amount of makeup, about $150 worth. That same day, I came to return some of it after seeing that the shades likely weren't for me. I have NEVER had an issue returning makeup but the worker saw how much I was returning- which mind you was only around maybe $40. I approached the register and the only thing I said was "I just have some returns". When the cashier saw that it was makeup, she grabbed a manager who rudely slammed down hangers only to approach me very aggressively, continuing to open each product in front of me and tell me that they clearly had been used and she couldn't POSSIBLY accept the return if they aren't able to resell it. She even very rudely said "I recommend next time going nextdoor and trying on the makeup there since we don't have testers."
It's funny though because the week before I literally returned two makeup items because one was dried out and the other I didn't like. Cashier had no problem letting me return them. ALSO, most if not ALL the makeup at Marshalls is tampered with ON THE FLOOR by customers. If that were the case, they would have to damage out EVERYTHING. I will admit one of the palettes I did swatch and realized it was a cream which I didn't want. Everything else was virtually untouched/like new. I also explained to them that half the stuff I bought had already had the stickers torn off WHEN I BOUGHT IT. Surprisingly they only let me return the two cheapest items, only AFTER I politely told the manager that those two items were already opened when I purchased them. Today I went to another Marshalls and they let me return everything with no questions asked.
This is not the first time they have been rude either. Once I came here about a year ago to try on a bathing suit top. I went to go try it on in the dressing room and when I came back out and told the dressing room attendant that I wasn't going to be getting it, she accused me of stealing the bathing suit bottoms... bottoms that did not exist. I explained to her that the bathing suit only had a top. I even offered to walk back to where they were WITH HER and show her that the suit only had a top and no bottoms. She refused, called someone over- and that person verified that it was only one item and did not come with bottoms. She said "oh i didn't know they just sold the tops". Did not apologize for accusing me of stealing or anything, literally did not let me leave from the area until she confirmed I wasn't stealing and when she was proved wrong, no apology.
I assume the treatment I receive here is because they think I am a teenager. Although I look young- I'm 23, I am a grown person and I deserve respect regardless of my age. Even if I was a teenager, you should still treat me as if you would everybody else. They clearly have bias against young people and just because I look young doesn't mean you can be completely rude to me. I doubt these scenarios would have occurred if I looked my age.
It is ridiculous the attitude/rudeness I have been and continue to get met with when all I have been is understanding and patient. I work in retail and there is ABSOLUTELY no reason for the attitude I was given. I deal with returns on a daily basis, I completely understand that all stores have different return policies- but the behavior from the manager was completely unnecessary. I was very nice and didn't not "demand" a refund, just kindly said I just have some returns and was immediately berated and embarrassed.
To me, it seems as if they weren't making sales goal for the day and likely had a lot of returns before me and that is why they refused. Regardless, that's not my problem. You should treat all customers with respect and be kind especially since I gave you my respect...
Read moreI found a dress today that was perfect for an upcoming wedding that I’m going to. When I was trying it on, I noticed a dime sized spot on it which looked like blue ink. I asked the dressing rooms attendant to see if there was a way for them to look and see if there were any more dresses like that in my size. She told me to go look on the rack and if there wasn’t and I still wanted it, they would take a 10% discount off at the register. When I got to the checkout, I asked the cashier if there was a way to see if they had any more of the same dress in the same size. She called over her manager, who said “ Whatever is on the rack is what we have”. So I Told her what the dressing room attendant said about the discount. The manager said “ We don’t give discounts”. This was wild to me, considering that it’s the last item like that and it was damaged. Why would I pay full price for an item that is damaged. This is a typical thing for retail stores to do. Aside from that, I had already been told that I could get a discount on the item. I told the manager that she should make sure that her employees are aware of that as it’s not right to be told something by one employee only to be told something else by another. She got on her walkie and called her dressing room attendant out. She turned to me and said “there, I told her”. I asked if she would honor the discount since that is what I was told and she said no. It’s crazy to me that a manager wouldn’t want to make the sale as there was still a profit to be made and risk losing a customer. Awful...
Read moreThis is a nice Marshalls the store is organized and well maintained. The employees that helped me were helpful. The check process which can be a ling process was not an issued on my visit. There was actually a number trained staff at the registers so the line moved quickly and the whole process ran smoothly. This is a good place not only for clothes but also bed linens and hone decorator and kitchen wares as well as a good place to purchase skin care and beauty products. They actually have a large selection of skin care and beauty products available at very discounted prices. This is a good place to shop. There is a lot of inventory to look at and go through and it is constantly changing. If you see something you like it's probably a good ideal to get it as it may not be there when...
