I came on Sat. Nov. 3, 2023. I did not know they were charging full dinner price for lunch. No signage to that effect or a word from the hostess. I was seated at a table to watch the Gators game. I had to ask them to change the channel. It was on a Jax State game. Who cares?? The food was good quality. Nothing jumped at me. I tried the crab. It was puny and very dry. Left out too long...it was baked dry. Not worth 18.95 price. Ginger Flounder with scallions was watery. No one had touched it. Didn't appear appetizing. Soups were good, hibachi chicken and steak...meats were dry. Probably overcooked before sitting out on heat. After game was over, I was approached by server. I was told that my time had run out!!! There were empty tables everywhere. I let them know I was very offended by them. They would not even state if that was a policy or not. Just a young server using authority to tell me to leave. I arrived at 1 30 and it was 4 03 when I left there. I will never darken their door...EVER. No apology was offered. No admission of anything. They just took my 18.95 and said have a nice day. How empty was that salutation??? You have now lost a customer for life and you have a bad review as well.
UPDATE. I just read your response to my review. You have no common sense. You just wrote that if I ordered off the menu, you would leave me alone. But because I spent 18.95 on your mediocre buffet you would have to put a time limit on how long I was there. I could order chow mein for 9.95 and you would not put a time limit on how long I was there. I was there enjoying college football on a Saturday. Do you think that Applebees or Beef O'Brady's would ask me to leave if I was watching football on weekends? I think you know the answer to that. All in all, you are in the hospitality business and you were very inhospitable to me. I know you don't care about people and that speaks for itself. Your business practices are horrid. I know you will have to answer for them someday. God knows everything. Even small...
Read moreLet's face it, this place is subpar at best. The cleanliness and the service is not an issue at all, but the most important part, the food, this is where I have to be fully transparent. Lunch dishes were bare bones in variety, meaning you can have shrimp w broccoli, or chicken w broccoli, or steak w broccoli, a little redundant. The egg drop soup is absolutely the worst I have ever had, consistently, I've been here several times and it's always the same, always terrible, maybe poured out of the same can. Every "seafood" dish is to the brim with fake crab meat, I should say "krab", I'm guessing all it takes to claim a dish as seafood is spray painted fish, "krab", and some cheap shrimp, all previously frozen no doubt. Hibachi chicken and hibachi steak are both bland as could be and the steak is tough and dry giving it a taste and texture akin to over cooked beef liver. BBQ chicken is a joke. Sushi is fine if you're ok with fake crab and cream cheese which serves as the basis for most rolls. Peel and eat shrimp are mealy and very bland. Fruits are ok, the best being pineapple, the melons are usually not ripened properly before serving resulting in an unsweet, flavorless experience. They make the mistake of preparing banana pudding with actual banana flavored pudding, which anyone in the south can tell you is a no no. When they have crab legs, the crab is pretty good, although I don't have any illusions about it being fresh, it has been frozen. Overall I'm not very impressed, I would say that anyone who has reviewed this place at anything over 3 stars either has no taste buds or works for Kyoto Palace. If you are in the mood for an Asian buffet, do yourself a favor and make the trip to Tampa or somewhere other than Plant City. I'm sorry Kyoto, but I gotta tell the truth...
Read moreI come here all the time, I always get the salmon poke bowl. I used to love coming here a lot but my recent visit has made me never want to come back. I had their poke bowl with their spicy mayo, next day I went to work and had to leave early because I got a fever out of nowhere and started throwing up. It was the only thing I had to eat that day other than a meal my family shared and cooked at home, my family did not get sick, so I put it together I got food poisoning from them. After throwing up it went away for the most part and I showed all the signs of it. My brother who's a chef told me to call and inform them to let them know so nobody else gets sick, as these things can happen with new cooks not following proper kitchen practices and it's important to stop an outbreak. I called and very politely told them I got food poisoning from their food. The man on the phone said no it can't be our food is fresh. Just because the food is fresh doesn't mean I couldn't get food poisoning? Cross contamination from other raw meats and non sanitary kitchen practices like not changing gloves between handling other raw meats and even chemical poisoning can happen to. I didn't ask for a refund or anything, I was essentially told no you didn't get that from here and I said well it was the only thing I ate that day.. so it had to have been.. and he just kept telling me it wasn't. No sorry no offering anything of any sort which I wasn't expecting anyway? Just super...
