My wife and I ate at Wayback Burgers a little over a year ago, and the food was good. The manager came around and checked on the customers to make sure they were satisfied with their meals. I told him that good service was 50% of the experience. He said he appreciated that. Fast forward to today 2/15/2024 and this is what Wayback is now like. We walked in and started our order. My wife got a classic with onion rings and a drink while I ordered the Southwest burger with chili cheese tots. Wait! No chili for the chili cheese tots. Boy, they sure looked good on all of the big posters plastered all over the place. By the way, that was the only food on posters hanging all over the place with the exception of the chili cheese dog, but Wayback can't offer either of them because they're out of the chili. Ok, so I ordered a double bacon and cheese. For the side, I'll do the Mac and cheese bites. Oh what? They don't do the Mac and cheese bites as part of a combo. Why isn't that posted on the menu board? Fine, give me the bacon and cheese tots. Wow! Almost THIRTY NINE DOLLARS FOR TWO COMBOS. OUCH! Then the food came, and I was told, "Our cheese was thick, so we just put some American cheese on the tots." Wow! You elected to swap the cheese and never asked the customer while half of the tots had no cheese on them? The tots weren't crispy at all, had only 50% cheese on them which, was slices of hardened American Cheese. Let's get to the burger. No char on the burger, and both paties were like mush. Hey Wayback, did you guys shrink the size of burger paties? When I worked at McDonald's some 44 years ago, we put seasoning on the burgers as they cooked. The Wayback burgers didn't have any kind of seasoning on them at all. No char, mushy, and no flavor. The bacon on the burger was horrible like it was cooked in a microwave oven. Now for the onion rings. The onion rings tasted like oil. Nothing else. Hey, Wayback, change your frozen onion ring supplier. The ones you can buy at Walmart are Waybetter. Lastly, I believe I saw the manager (male, 5' 8-9", black t-shirt, black ball cap) standing and talking to two people sitting at a table and never bothered to come check on the customers like he did a year or so ago. Is Wayback comfortable now, and the customer satisfaction isn't as important, or does Wayback have complete faith in the teenagers making the food? Well, they did a horrible job! No char, not crispy, swapped the cheese without checking with the customer, no seasoning, horrible onion rings, and microwave bacon. We thought about getting shakes for the ride home, but my wife was afraid to get something else that was really bad while I said, çWayback doesn't deserve my money for a shake considering how bad everything else was." Wayback burger: You better clean up your act because it will catch up with you, and it can be a hard thing to recover from when you only deserve 1 and 2 star reviews. I'll post pics of the bad food soon. Dear owner: basic doesn't cover how bad the food was last night. Culver's and Wendy's has consistently far better food than what was served to us last night. You really needed to address how your employees can swap products after payment and think it's OK. In hind sight, I should just have demanded a refund and left. Rest assured that if I give you another chance, that is what will happen should these things transpire again. That being said, if you really care, I suspect your cheese sauce, which is one of your main ingredients, will NEVER be "to thick" to serve and hopefully you'll train your employees to NEVER switch out food on a customer without first asking. I asked her If she can please calm down as I wasn’t being nasty to her nether shall she to me but she just got more aggressive, mind you I’m carrying my 1yr old and have my 5yr old daughter beside me. she then started blaming me for being confused and asking her a question. she then started shaking and getting very worked up, I asked for corporate’s number to report her so that she can no longer treat others this way. she then gave me my refund and corporate’s number and walked away super angry. as I was sitting down In the restaurant tables waiting for my reward that I had redeem before any of this happen she then comes up to me extremely out of It demanding that I talk to her boss who was on the other line on the phone saying “ you wanna talk to corporate well here Is my boss talk to her” etc, saying I’m disgusting and that I tried to get serval free meals. I asked her to please get away from me and leave me alone because I genuinely was concerned something was not right about her she then got even more upset stormed away saying to her boss on the phone “ well I guess she Is scared now because she doesn’t have anything to say “ at that moment I got my Item that I redeem on the app and left. I was beyond hurt! Nobody should ever be treated this way by anyone! This woman should not even be allowed to work here she has zero respect for her customers and zero patience! Read moreI am appalled at the horrific customer service this facility provides! I ordered online for a coworker and myself lunch on Wednesday 12/22/21 we were extremely excited to try this restaurant that we had never eaten from before. The menu looks wonderful. This restaurant uses doordash as a delivery service. This is fantastic for us and very convenient because we work off of couty line road in lakeland. Once our order arrived i reviewed the order on the ticket against what was provided in the bag. We were missing an entire order. We ordered a cheeeesy burger a philly steak and 2 orders of mack and cheese balls. The philly and one mac and cheese balls was missing. I told the delivery driver she said this isnt her issue to call the restaurant. I did this. The young man who answered was extremely rude and told me everything was in the bag. I took photos these items were not in the bag. He argued with me and hung up the phone i asked for a manager the second time I called he said susan was not in and they do not have a manager i asked his name he said sean Joseph. He hung up the phone again. I called once again for corporates phone number he said that im wrong i can come check the camera videos if i want to i asked him is this how you treat your customers? Thats absolutely terrible to tell your customers they are wrong he said you clearly dont understand the words coming out of my mouth i said i understand completely but you never tell a customer they are wrong especially when it is not my fault they got the order incorrect. He said well thats exactly what im saying. I can take it up with susan tomorrow at 5 when she gets in. He said he already spoke to the delivery driver before i called the first time and that im crazy and hung up again. Typically i do not complain about simple mistakes do to it is the holiday season and were all extremely busy but i paid 30 dollars for 2 meals and received one. Im on a time crunch during lunch 30 minutes i do not have spare time to drive 20 minutes to this restaurant for them to be rude to my face. Needless to say i will never order from this establishment again. My issue was resolved once calling doordash for they refunded my order. But this was the absolute most terrible experience...
