Leena Plantation Apartments — Attraction in Plantation

I've waited 10 months to write this review, hoping things would get fixed. I hope this review makes it to Altman, because you guys have a real problem over here at "The Leena". Wow, where do I start. The "Butterfly" system which is what they use for the call system at the front door, has been broken for 6 months. Anyone can walk right in at anytime. We have food drivers walking in and out at all hours of the night. The garage door to the moving bay was broke and left open for 3 months as they claimed they were waiting for parts. Again anyone and everyone could walk in. And the bums did, every time it rained. That has now been fixed after 3 months. The parking garage did not have the security doors installed until 6 months after people moved in. Even with a security guard on site during the night there was several cars broken into. One gentleman had his catylic converters cut off his truck in the garage. The managment people told him it was not there problem and it cost him out of pocket $2,500 to make the repairs. The security doors have been installed now. They are continually broke in the upright position. And I mean for weeks at a time. Police have been here several times in the garage looking for a suspect that has run inside. In the last month there has been 2 apartments broken into. Looks like someone just walked in one of the unlocked or open access points to the building and pryed the apartment doors open with a crowbar. Now keep in mind, this is with a security guard on site. Elevators, OMG the Fire Department has been here several times to get people out of broke down elevators. Security is a joke. They used to be here from 6pm to 6am. I have left several times for work at 4am and the golf cart is parked in the garage and they are gone. The last night that an apartment was broken into the security guard showed up for work at 8pm. I was a witness to that. The cops were already here before he showed up. Management employees have left. Our property manager left last week, and as far as I know she has no replacement yet. People have not renewed there lease and there are over 50 vacant apartments. Foreclosures are common frequently. Rent it so high, you would think Altman would do something for the ones that pay on time and want to renew. It's really sad because the building is just over a year old. It really is a great layout, great floorplans, great amenities, and it is beautiful. But it is getting run down so fast. Carpets need cleaned, walls need touched up, trash rooms are atrocious with ants and odor. If they don't hire more help it's going to be a crap hole in another year. Everything I have said here is 100% fact. I dare anyone from management or Altman to argue it's not. I have written reviews on Google for years. This is the first bad one ever. I would have given The Leena 1 star, but the staff at the property does not deserve that. Please, get these security issues fixed. The front door and garage doors should not still be broken after 6 months. People shouldn't have to pay for the damage and theft to their vehicles. God forbid something worse happens because this building is not secure. There should be more security cameras on property, not just in the common areas and office space. It's a shame the builder Merrimac hired this Altman Management group to over see this building. Altman Mngt Group has less then a 2 star review on Google from all the properties they manage. I just hope nobody gets hurt from a lack...

Update 5:18pm on 5:15: After my initial review, I followed up again and received response from Dara at the leasing office. She confirmed she recommended adding cameras to all garage floors, but ownership gave no firm answer. She plans to bring it up again during 2026 budget planning, which unfortunately does not address current safety concerns.

She also provided safety recommendations as well.

While Dara has been responsive, ownership’s lack of urgency is disappointing. Resident safety should be a priority, not a delayed consideration. ————————————————————————— I’ve enjoyed living at Leena Plantation overall, but recent safety concerns have made me seriously reconsider renewing my lease.

On April 10th, my car was broken into in the parking garage and the airbags were stolen. I filed a police report and returned the next day, April 11th, with a Plantation police officer. A leasing staff member escorted us upstairs to review security footage. I then spoke with Dara in her office about the incident. Unfortunately, we were informed there are no cameras past the 1st floor of the garage, and the footage we reviewed was inconclusive.

Since then, I’ve been parking on the 5th floor. On May 14th, around 4:30 p.m., while sitting in my car, I witnessed a white vehicle with several young men (no window tint) slowly circling and scoping out vehicles, including mine. As soon as we made eye contact, they stopped and drove further up to the uncovered section of the 5th floor. Given my previous experience, this was very concerning.

To make matters worse, the garage gates are regularly left open during the day, something the officer and I noticed while reviewing footage. This significantly compromises the safety of residents and their vehicles.

I came into the office again on May 14th to report the new incident and was told by Nelly to document it via email, which I did. What’s especially troubling is that I noticed a recent review by a man named Antonio, who also raised safety concerns. Leena Plantation responded by stating they had not been made aware of any issues. That’s surprising, considering I was there on April 11th with an officer and personally spoke with Dara and about my break-in.

These are not minor issues. I’m sharing this review so others are informed and can decide accordingly. I sincerely hope management takes real steps to improve safety for the sake of current and future residents.
