Amazing place! Such an immersive experience. I have been here three times, once with my school, once for my birthday, and once for my cousin's birthday. And each was an amazing experience! I will go into more detail below. -----no spoilers----- (just A breif explanation) The first one was with my school, so it was a special mission where the three ships worked together. We had to review in science and learn about the echo systems and what our mission was about. 2&3. They were both about the same. 1.5 hour experience. Inside the cockpit and have to problem solve and figure out Problems. -----!!! Spoilers !!!-----( do not read if you have not been or are not going to help, will spoil experience!
Over all: all the experiences are roughly based off of the the Star trek universe. With some of the same species's and planets.
#1 ship: Magellan, position: sensors In this experience, there is an explosion that blasts debris twords a planet, and we had to go and protect them. Or the debris would freeze the planet (by blocking sun light) and kill most life. We have to go and warn them, give them heat generators. We have to then figure out what happens. Turns out that one of our stations was exploded, by one of our scientists. Then while we are warning the planet, the debris come and we have to shoot them down. We almost die twice, once by sabatoge, then once by the debris. But we survive and completed all our objectives.
#2 ship: Odyssey, position: Capitan In this experience. We get there, and know nothing of what we are going into. We go into the ship after we are assigned our roles, and I am told that I have a "head injury" and probably will forget things. We have a doctor examining us and giving us medicine (Skittles). And then we find out there is a bomb on board. We find it and try to do away with it. But it explodes and we die. We are given time to re think what we did wrong, what we have, and how to get rid of the bomb. So we decided to use the transporter to move the bomb into space. We succeed and move on. The goal is to take back some Gemini missiles from pirates. So we have to track them, find a traitor (we thought the doctor was the traitor.) and take them back. So we find them, take the missiles back, then turn around, but we are right outside a big dust could, I thought we would've turned around away from it. But no, we ran right into it at warp 9. So ok
#3 ship: galliao, position: weapons specialist I do remember this one. There is a meeting for multiple alliances. One that hates us and one is chill. But the one that hates us, hates the other even more, and they hate them back. So the one that is chill "carpools" with us, and our ambassador and theirs is captured. So they cut communications with us. And later we get a ransom message for them. So we are sent out to find them. Along the way, we destroy a enemy space ship. Then we go to a Outpost, that sent the space ship we destroyed, so we get more missiles, but we never talked about payment, so then he has us deliver a message for him, one that tells us where the ambassadors are. We run into the other group, they threaten us, and we tell them information, then we go attack the enemy and take our...
Read moreI need to give a big shout out and plug for the Christa McAuliffe Space Center in Pleasant Grove and their awesome space simulator missions! As I looked for a birthday party idea for my 12yo and we explored bowling, laser tag, swimming, or other options, we came upon the idea of the space center, and I wasn't sure about it. It seemed out of our price range, we'd have to limit the number of friends, I wasn't sure if everyone would like it, and it's 2.5 hours that's hard to find a slot for. But as I looked at other options, the space center mission really seemed to be about the same price, and we found a time and mission available that we decided to go for. After dropping the boys off at their schedule time, we (the parents) left and then came back in 2 hours to watch from the control room the last 30 minutes, viewing them behind the scenes interacting and reacting to the simulation.
Wow! What fun! There were 8 boys ranging in age from 10 to 14 and each one of them was actively involved and engaged, with suspense high as they worked to navigate the scenarios put before them. As they came out, every one of them was excited and animatedly talking about the events of the mission. I was worried that 2.5 hours was perhaps too long a time for keeping attention, but not a single one of them seemed bored or tired of the time in there. It was so fun and impressive to watch the crew leading them through the simulation in the control room, too. Very impressed and so glad they got to do it!...

Edit to add: while the owner said it was a free show it was not. I get that they don't make any money off us but we still paid money for our get out pass. The fact that they make no money from get out pass users has nothing to do with me. My money was still taken yet I did not get the service offered. I feel that other patrons should be aware of the lack of customer service at this venue.
My phone didn't have good service inside as I was trying to redeem the free planetarium show via get out pass. An employee looked at my phone and saw me trying to check our names to redeem. He saw it wasn't loading so told me to connect to the "Alpine Guest" WiFi. That made it worse. Then another employee told me their internet blocks a lot of sites so disconnect and turn off the wifi on my phone altogether. I did so but had to reload the app. After reloading it then showed that the tickets and been used and didn't have a code for the planetarium to scan. Even though their employee saw that we hadn't used the pass less than one minute prior, they wouldn't let us in. We drove down from Salt Lake county. So we had to turn around and drive back home with a crying kid who didn't understand why they wouldn't let us in. Frankly I don't...
