I've lived in Utah Valley for 6 years, just visited Star Saloon for the first time on a laid back date. It is very much your quintessential karaoke-and-pool-tables dive--in the best way possible..but also very surprising for Utah Valley!
The bartenders were attentive, fun, and sweet as could be, and extremely efficient. The drinks were affordable and tasty (though if you like a stronger drink, I'd order your liquor straight up!) The clientele was a mix of what felt like your usual bar regulars and a surprisingly young, queer and alternative/indie kid crowd I was delighted to encounter in PG of all places. And everyone just enjoyed themselves the whole night. I've hated the bars in Provo and thought that my options were Scorez (which is a bit seedier/more country), Strap Tank (which is overpriced), or going above Point of The Mountain (which isn't ideal just for the travel time). But this is very much going to be a go-to spot for me from here on out. Can't believe it took me this long...
Read moreWish I could give this place Zero stars... walked in with a group of guys just for a couple beers. Was immediately approached by a female who repeatedly screamed at us that she worked there, and that she was from Dublin, Ireland, while calling us derogatory names and being extremely vulgar. She smacked a beer out of my hand for no reason other than being extremely drunk. Told the bartender about it, and she was "relocated" rather than thrown out. We moved over to the pool tables to play a couple games, while an hour went by, the same female encountered another female and partook in gross, sexual acts all over the pool table and bar and was deemed ok to go on for about 45 minutes or so. Guess that's what attracts the "gentlemen" that occupy the void space called a bar. Needless to say, won't ever be coming back and I would feel horrible if I didn't tell the rest of society,...
Read moreThis place is awesome! My favorite part is the signs all over that say, "No fighting, we really mean it this time!" I thought they were there just for the irony, but then I was at Moe's bar, and I met a guy who got kicked out of here for fighting. Anyway, I never saw a fight here. It's a great locals bar. They have a limited beer selection, and the food is limited to what they can warm up in the toaster oven and ordering pizza from down the street. It's a long, thin bar. The smoking area is pretty good, but very cold in the winter. The bartenders are always awesome and very friendly. There are always cool people here. They don't close early on Sundays, and it's a great place to get a beer any day at midnight. Their pool tables are usually really balanced, too. Everybody calls this place "Pool Hall" or...
