I came to MHP Creations in Plymouth with my pregnant sister and a friend for what was supposed to be a fun birthday outing. My sister just needed her jewelry swapped, and my friend and I were excited to get new piercings. Instead, we were met with rude and unnecessarily sarcastic behavior that left us totally confused and uncomfortable.
When we walked in, I made a harmless joke to my sister — “Get something pierced, you’re pregnant, not dead” — and she laughed. The woman working could’ve simply said they don’t pierce pregnant clients (which we understand), but instead snapped back with a bizarre, snarky comment: “Oh no, we don’t do that. If something goes wrong, we have this fun little thing in our contract where you sign away your house and everything you own.” Really? That’s how you explain a safety policy?
Then, my friend asked a basic question about getting a hoop in a conch piercing, and the staff member said she’d grab her manager. He came out and said, without even saying hello, “I heard the conversation from the back, and I didn’t like what was being talked about, so I’m not piercing anyone.” Just like that. We were completely stunned. We hadn’t been rude, demanding, or difficult — just excited to celebrate and get piercings.
We ended up walking out and going just down the street, where another shop was more than happy to exchange my sister’s jewelry and pierce us — no attitude, no judgment, just great customer service. And get this: they told us we weren’t the first ones to come in after having a negative experience at MHP.
Extremely disappointed. What should’ve been a fun birthday turned into an awkward, uncomfortable mess. If you’re looking for respectful, professional service, skip this place and go literally...
Read moreI honestly can’t recommend this business enough. I’ve been going here for almost 2 decades, since I was a teenager (with parental consent and accompanying) and then on my own when I was older. The place is always spotless, everything is always disinfected and wiped down, I never feel anything but safe and protected and never fear germs or infection (this is of upmost importance to me as I am immunocompromised), the piercings are done with precision and care, and the jewelry is always of the highest quality. The owner is also a fine human being of the highest caliber. I’ve gotten to know them personally over the last couple decades and have come to understand the love they have for body piercing and just their passion for the industry and zest for constant learning and implementing of all the latest in safety and health and quality standards. This isn’t just a job or some hobby for them, this is truly a passion and they put their heart and soul into it. I live two hours away now, (more if I get stuck in the usual Boston traffic) but I will still travel down there to get anything done. I would highly recommend it to anyone considering to get their next piercing done here! I’d also like to address the owner by saying: Thanks for being such a wonderful, caring, attentive piercer who creates such a lovely environment and crafts such great experiences for the client! So many businesses don’t realize this is a whole experience, for some of us it’s like therapy, not just a poke-and-go, and the time, care, attention, and individualization you put into every session is so very appreciated by all of us! We...
Read moreThis is the only place I would ever recommend going to for piercings. They are both genuinely good people. His wife is so professional, and welcoming. Matt is like a piercing master. I’ve had almost everything pierced at one point and believe me when I tell you: as a piercer, you have to be physically strong to push that through skin and he has definitely mastered his art. Most recently he’s done my septum and I did not feel it at all. I was really surprised because you’d think it would be painful! I also got tooth gems! I get compliments on both of them constantly. The thing I love most about going to him ( besides the entire experience) is that he will pierce with gold. A lot of places around here won’t. 9 times out of 10 if I’m wearing silver or the surgical steel I will either get an infection or have that allergic response to it. Last but not least: it’s so safe,Clean and welcoming, that I had no problem bringing my 6 year old daughter. And my nickname is “ helicopter mom”, so that should...
