I was excited to try this new restaurant in Plymouth, but left feeling underwhelmed. The atmosphere was uninviting and extremely noisy making it hard to hear our table's conversation. The high ceilings likely contributed to this but some better insulation or noise buffering tiles might help. The decor was just meh. I was willing to overlook all of this if the food was exceptional but it just wasn't. I had the Lamb Seekh Kebab listed under the tandoori section of the menu. It was overly salty, dry, and lacking in depth of flavor. Even the rice was dry. The dish wasn't listed as spicy but was in a very one note way. In fact every one of the entrees on our table had the same red sauce even those from different sections of the menu. This restaurant doesn't currently have a liquor license but the Cinderella mocktail was delicious with the right balance of sweet and tart. The service was attentive although I would have appreciated some guidance as to what to select. The server was very non-committal and not willing to make a suggestion. I think a great addition to the menu would be a sampling platter of their greatest hits entrees. They had an appetizer sharing platter, but it would be nice to see one for entrees as well. I also would recommend to the restaurant to either serve the dishes on the dinner plates or the serving dishes but trying to fit 4 large round plates and 4 rectangular serving dishes on the table was an impossible feat for the table sizes they have. I realize this restaurant is just getting started in Plymouth (although they have other locations on the South Shore), so I may try it again once it's been here for awhile. However, I'm not rushing to go there...
Read moreI recently visited the new Turmeric House in Plymouth and was incredibly impressed! As a fan of their Weymouth and Braintree locations, I had high expectations, and this new outpost exceeded them. The absolute standout for me was the momos! Having not tried them before, I can confidently say they are a must-order â perfectly steamed and bursting with flavor, served with delicious accompanying sauces. Even if you've been to other Turmeric House spots, these momos are worth the trip!
The restaurant's interior is also lovely, with thoughtful decor that creates a really comfortable and inviting atmosphere. What truly made the experience exceptional was the incredibly friendly owner, whose warmth and passion for the restaurant shine through.
They are currently working on securing their liquor license (a process impacted by a previous tenant, not Turmeric House), but please don't let this deter you! The fantastic food and wonderful hospitality make it a worthwhile visit on their own. If you're in Plymouth and craving authentic Indian food, I highly recommend checking out Turmeric House. You won't be...
Read moreVisiting a friend in the Plymouth area and we decided to go to Tumeric House for dinner. Food is light on spice and flavor, but enjoyable with great service.
For starters we ordered the Plymouth Vegetarian Platter with vegetable samosa, vegetable pakora, gobi pakora, veg momo & cheese kofta. More than enough for 3 people to share, we enjoyed all of the flavors.
For dinner I ordered the Matar Paneer served with rice for the table. My dish was very light on spice and flavor with mild heat. My partner ordered the Shaag Paneer saying the dish was good but again light on spice and flavor with medium heat. Our friend ordered the Chana Masala and loved his dish. We did order some Naan for the table which I did not eat.
Overall, food and service are fine, would have liked a bit more flavor in the curry dishes.
The restaurant is small with the front door sitting right on Court Street, allowing the cold October air to fill the front of the restaurant as people enter and leave after dinner or the many take-out...
