Mothman & the Mothman Museum were popping off yesterday! It was so packed Ingrid Cold just looked like a snowman w/false teeth, waiting to get into the gift shop. One note.. If you bring things to jam into the butt of the Mothman - take them with you when you get your photo (except $ - cause that's funny to see poking out). Also, please tip excessively! Point Pleasant is a lovely place & these people put up with us - 7d/w - without complaint. One last thing there are artists who live & work, for us, & our criptid-loving ways - right here! On this block! Basically across the street. These artists can paint anything you may require/request. Please don't leave until you see the gallery. Btw cops here WILL ticket you for smoking crack on the sidewalk. This isn't San Fran. Smoke that back at the hotel, like normal people. OMG! I nearly forgot. In the museum they have a copy of Project Blue Book & the letter requesting info about this publication from the government. The govt. reply - stating that they couldn't release the requested info because it was still controlled! I got pics.. Love love love love love PS: You wanna flex in Point Pleasant? You rent a '57 Chevy & cruise like a true Mothman Pimp! M&M Logico, I think, is the 4Sure way to get into the classic cars & feel of the Mothman historical era. Trust me, it's a helluva flex. It's cheaper to hire a crackhead to hold your purse. Before leaving here, let's all try to do something nice. I would say give a homeless lady a hondo - but they're just isn't any, apparently. Pick up trash or clean up around the Mothman statue, goto the riverside a turn a bottle of Maker's Mark straight sideways for the Silver bridge victims. I mean could you imagine drowning in a car with your screaming kids? Then being stuck in a space the size of the 'Ecto 1' car from Ghostbusters with those wet brats for...
Read moreGoon museum the back. They had a very large collection of newspaper articles about the Mothman, from the first sightings to the collapse of the Silver Bridge. You will find sketches from people who claimed to see the legend themselves. The Meausem also has alot of movie props from the Mothman movie starring richard gear. In a back corner is a viewing room so you can watch documentaries on the legend and folk lore of this Appalachian river valley location. Gift Shop was very well priced. A limited edition Funco Pop of the #mothman along with a free Vault Boy mask for around $12. They had Tshirts in sizes SM-XXXL in almost every available style. A XXXL tshirts was $13. They even carried a children's selection going down to a 3T, there may have been smaller. A Hoodie was $32 for in size XXXL. There are plenty of novelty items and other related merchandise, like the for mentioned Mothman FunCo Pop. All items seemed reasonably price as well. Mothamn Rootbeer tasted great at first. Very sweet and loaded with a more than ample sampling of spices. But it became too heavy as I began to drink more. If you like a lot of sweetness in your beverage this might be just your style. A 2.50 a bottle you can try for yourself. If you dont like it the bottle looks cool if you are a collector or lover of Mothman. And let's be honest, if you find yourself inside this Museum and gift shop...you probably are a fan of the LEGENDARY MOTHMAN! If you like the lore of the Mothman or the Fallout 76 game you should check this place out if your are...
Read moreIf you're a fan of cryptids, folklore, or just delightfully quirky Americana, the Mothman Museum in Point Pleasant, WV is an absolute must-visit. This place is a love letter to one of the most fascinating legends in American history—and it delivers in spades.
The museum dives deep into the eerie events of 1966–67, when locals reported sightings of a winged humanoid with glowing red eyes near the TNT area. These chilling encounters culminated in the tragic collapse of the Silver Bridge, and ever since, the Mothman has loomed large in pop culture and local lore. The museum does a fantastic job of presenting this history with both reverence and flair.
Inside, you'll find original newspaper clippings, eyewitness sketches, and even props from the 2002 film The Mothman Prophecies. There's a full-size Mothman statue, vintage police reports, and a recreation of the infamous TNT bunker. The displays are immersive and thoughtfully curated—equal parts spooky and fascinating.
And don’t skip the gift shop! It’s packed with Mothman-themed treasures: shirts, sweatshirts, hats, buttons, stickers, mugs, and even plush cryptids. Whether you're looking for a tongue-in-cheek souvenir or a serious addition to your paranormal collection, they've got you covered.
The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about the legend. This museum isn’t just a roadside attraction—it’s a celebration of mystery, community, and the enduring power of storytelling. Highly...
