The staff here is amazing I suffered a Stroke came into the ER and was greeted by one of the medical staff Mariah who was just so kind and sweet, later that evening I was transferred to ICU where Maneesh a visiting nurse from Tampa and Candace also a visiting nurse from Orlando assisted me for the next couple days, such an amazing staff I love talking with people and it was so wonderful to hear Mariah was from Trinidad and so we spoke briefly about our beautiful little country and Maneesh has Guyanese family and we share the same Hindi religion....And Candace is just so perky and nice. Very professional staff, always attentive and always there to assist your every need! Maneesh is such a gentleman, very well mannered and so very patient! God knows I was hooked to every monitor in that hospital but when I needed something they were all there, no matter how many times and with a smile and no attitude! Yay...As I am still a here I'm on the 3rd floor now with a new staff My new nurse Melissa is really, really nice and giggly already feels like home and Angellica the NA she is also so sweet I couldn't have asked for a better stay here. Everything is just so perfect...kudos baby Halifax you've done amazing job I wish we can clone everyone here over and over!!!

Exceptional care provided here. I been to multiple hospitals with a condition they could not find a reason to. This place did numerous tests and found the underlying cause. Their doctors and nurses were caring and super helpful. They saved my life!

I have never been so discriminated against at any hospital as I was tonight at Halifax Port Orange. I arrived a bit after 8 pm with my three minor children who were complaining of abdominal pain. I should of heeded the warning upon check in when I stood in front of the counter for several minutes before I was even addressed. After our check in we seen triage after waiting 15 mins or so, we sat in the waiting room till close to ten before we were called back to a make shift room surrounded by curtains. Because we had waited so long I had my children urine in cups because I knew the Dr.s would want a specimen. There we sat until the nurse came in, the nurse filled out his papers asked few questions and left, he never touched any of the children, asked his basic questions for us questionnaire and left. After which I laid down and wrapped a headband around my eyes because the light was bright and had my children ages 10,9 and 6 watch cartoons on my phone app when the registration lady came in, she was a bit rude and I ignored it and continued to answer her questions, I gave her my information and she she learnt I didn’t no longer have insurance, she was taken a back and said , “ you don’t have insure on your kids”, I then replied and told her that my spouse transitioned jobs so No! Then the registration lady left, that was about 10:48. At 11 another nurse came in and grabbed the urine from cup from 2 hours earlier then she left. No ever came back! At 12:50 I asked how much longer since there were no other people in the back behind curtains with us and I was told”, Were discarding you! I ask how and why when my children were never seen, we never seen a doctor, only staff that touched my kids were triage personnel. The nurse had a smirk on her face and lifted her hand up said “ your being discharged, the doctor didn’t seen any UTI and he’s not doing any test beside you were sleep while your kids managed themselves.” I then replied, “No I laid her with a bandanna on my eyes, I wasn’t sleep, no one came in and my children or still saying they are in pain”. The nurse then told me agian with a half smile ,” well your being discharged go take them to your primary care physician. Then she turned and went back to the round station the others nurses were at and they all stared and had smirks on their face. I did not get discharge papers, I along with my children were allowed to leave with out them and I stopped at the check in very emotional crying about what took place , the check in lady got up disappeared in the back where the other nurses were at and came back with a card and said call this number it was so a manager. I told the lady that I didn’t know what to do and that I would try Advant hospital, that I should t be charged for services that were never rendered, offered or treatment given. I left and called Halifax Daytona explained to them what happened and I was given a different number that wasn’t a manger number but a compliance number. I don’t know why I discriminated against for either no insurance or race but we were and it violated section 1557 of the ACA, not only that HIPPA was violated because you could see inside the curtains and who were next to you . Once agian I have never been treated like this in my whole life. I now have to find treatment at another location since the working doctor refused to treat my children and find the source of the pains. I will never return to Halifax...

I went to the ER this past week with the worse experience I have encountered in my entire life. We brought in my 2 year old grandson who squished his fingertip. He fell backwards off a dining room chair. His nail was hanging on by a thread and the entire tip was busted open like a grape . It was a horrific site. He was screaming, crying, bleeding, etc. His parents and myself were devastated. We brought him in around 7:15 p.m. They brought us back pretty quick. We then sat there for THREE HOURS. They did an x-ray during that time which revealed a OPEN FRACTURE. The nurses came here and there, never cleaned him up, never touched him. We didn't see a doctor till about TWO hours in. He glanced at it and said he might need a hand surgeon because it was an open fracture. We didn't even know it was an open fracture! This 2 year old sat, layed, crawled, cried, screamed, rolled, etc for 3 hours with an OPEN wound. Why on earth did we get treated like this? The doctor was the worse doctor I have ever met. Dr. Baker. We informed him we wanted a hand surgeon, because we were skeptical as to his confidence in fixing this, since he hadn't touched it in 2 1/2 hours. He told us he had other patients to attend to. I didn't really hear any of them screaming down the hallway. So he told us he could do it. The nurses were going to sedate him. They put the first IV in, ooops didn't work. The second one worked. We then waited. No doctor. I told them we probably should get the hand surgeon here. We would feel more comfortable. Dr. Baker then came in the room and asked my daughter if she wanted him to perform the stitches. She was laying on the bed with her son and not looking at the doctor. One of the nursed told my daughter, "look at the doctor when he is talking to you". She said he could do it. Then the doctor told us that was "excusing himself from the case". My doctor asked him if he was joking, he was not. He said to take out the IV, wrap the hand up, and we could see the hand surgeon the next morning. Dr Brenner. I know this is hard to read, because I still can't believe it happened. Well, they ripped out the IVs the nurse at the end finally touched my grandson. This was at 11:00 p.m. The cleaned the dried blook off his forearm and hand. She then wrapped it up. This was the only person the whole night that had touched or even cared for this little 2 year old. So we left with an open fracture and proceeded to Ormond Hospital. It was a little crowded, so they didn't go in. They waited until 9:00 a.m. the next morning to go see Dr. Brenner. They walked in and they had no idea they were were coming. Girl at desk called doctor and she said he would be there in 20 minutes. They were great. Why is a hand surgeon on call at a hospital if he never came? Why did we wait until next morning with an open fracture, where the big concern is infection? Why on earth were we treated like this? Why did he dismiss himself and not treat my grandson? How on earth is it okay to torture a 2 year old? I am so thankful this is over.

Please, DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL. Just drive a little further and try the Halifax on ISB. This makeshift hospital here on Dunlawton is a joke. As far as this disgusting excuse of a doctor, Mr. Baker. Something should be...

If I could rate a zero I would. I just rushed my coughing and slightly choking son to their emergency room at 2am on July 4th. When we got there he actually started throwing up and choking and turning red in his car seat during check in. They just say there and looked at him. Didn't move or budge, didn't even ask if he was okay or if he or I needed any help. There's a choking 3 month old turning red in front of you and you act like nothing's happening ? Okay. We finally go back to a room before the black lady ah the desk fully checks us in. The tolder whole male doctor who came in to look at my child wasn't even a pediatrician...checked his ears ,m and moth and attempted to listen to his breathing for maybe 30 seconds max . He was coughing during the visit and I could hear all of the nurses talking about my child outside of the room very loudly and rudely . There was no privacy. The older doctor even walked out of the room drifting off his conversation and just left us there twice. Were we supposed to leave? Was he coming back? Just left without a word. Didn't give my child anything to his cough which has his threat and voice hoarse . Said we'd be better off at the other hospital where pediatricians were because he was not one.... they were more concerned with how "cute" and "adorable" my child was and not his actual issue... it was as though once the older male doctor decided not t treat my child the entire staff just disappeared and treated us as if we were almost the issue. We JIST moved to town and have yet to find a proper pediatrician yet. The Latino or Hispanic nurse you could barely understand tried to act as though I was a bad mom for not having one yet. You can't just snap your fingers and find the perfect doctor for your new born and her attitude was very dismissive and disrespectful . Then I even had to ask for directions out of this place. As we were walking out the black check in lady is in the way and actually stops us and say "you need to come with me". Where are your manners? You could be polite and request that I follow you to finish up his check in info. But no, instead you had a very rude attitude . She barely explained the papers I had to sign. And when my son started getting fussy and coughing, she proceeded to look at me as though I was taking up her time and making her wait. My child is the most important person ag the moment and this place made me feel like we were not important at all. Made me feel like we were an issue and taking up their time and bothering their Night . Our doctor and hospital back home is so wonderful and just so amazing. This experience was a complete smack in the face. I'm literally shocked and now still have to find someone to look at my son properly and treat him. I just pray he doesn't get any worse . This was just pathetic. He...
