This is one of several parks located along Veterans Memorial Pkwy in Port St. Lucie. This lovely 2.5 acre park was dedicated to veterans in April 23, 1995. It is laid out in the shape of a pentagon with 12 benches. Each of the five tips represent a different branch of the military recognized with a flag and emblems.
Memorials in the park go back to the Revolutionary War and include a Vietnam Veterans wall, World War II memorial, Korean memorial, and Purple Heart memorial. On September 25, 2016, the Gold Star Families Memorial Monument was dedicated honoring the family members of those who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces.
On April, 2024, the newest memorial in the park was dedicated to the 349 Florida servicemembers killed in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. It was created from 19,000 pounds of black granite from Chamarjnagar, India. The memorial was inspired by the National Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. and it was the the first memorial in Florida to honor the individual military personnel lost in these wars.
This quiet and inclusive park provides a reflective environment for those who want to pay their respects to military service members. The area is lit at night to accommodate visitors who may wish to visit in the evening. There is also plenty of parking including handicapped spaces.
This park is an important and poignant reminder of the sacrifices of our military personal through multiple conflicts across the years. The memorials are thoughtfully designed providing a deep sense of respect and remembrance. This park is a pleasure to visit for historical education and...
Read moreThis is one of the most OUTSTANDING Veteran Memorial Parks I have ever visited! Luckily I was al8ne with my service dog and wept like a baby. The township spared no expense in remembering our wars and fallen heroes and veterans. I am the daughter of a WWIi hero 3 purple hearts ball turret gunner whose plane on his 6th mission out of England was shot down in Normandy on a french farm. The nose gunner wanted to switch with my Dad but my Dad was comfortable in the belly of the plane . Thank God because the Germans shot the plane down and the nose gunner and other crew died instantly. My Dad hid the fact he was a Jew and was taken to Stalag 17 where he remained for 18 months sleeping on a straw cot and eating worm soup. He was an amazing man that was captured Dec 31st and liberated May 2and the significance of that date is he met my Mother on a blind date NY Eve and her birthday was May 2and they fell in love had 4 children and stayed married for 58 years till he died. I sprung him from the VA Nursing home while critically I'll to go see my mother in Mt Arlington NJ he died peacefully 3 days later knowing the live of his life was in a beautiful facility.
