I've shopped at Michael's for years but recently went there to get an art piece custom framed as a birthday gift. The employee who assisted me in picking the frame and mat for my project had great customer service skills and they were running one of their custom framing sales, so I was happy to get a good discount on the work. I had asked to be contacted after the mat was added to the art because I wanted to write a note on the frame and the employee had assured me that would be possible and she made a point of writing careful notes on the order.
The problem came in when I returned to the shop to write the note on the mat. I was never contacted as promised and when I arrived to sign the work, the employee (a different person than before) had little to no customer service interest and acted as if my request to write on the mat was absurd. When I asked for a Sharpie marker as I'd been promised, he told me he only had a ball point pen or a bulky black marker that bled on the mat sample I tried using it on. He then said I would have to purchase or bring in my own marker. This was a direct contradiction of what I'd been told by the first employee and when I pointed that out, he only got more rude. I asked the store manager if he could help and he agreed with the employee that I could not be provided a marker. The manager did reluctantly agree to make a exception but the only incident gave me a bad enough feeling that I decided I'd rather pay more and go to a professional shop rather than trust my art to the McDonald's of framing shops. I won't ever go back, even if the sale saves...
Read morePurchased a Lemax Halloween decoration, but accidentally ordered 2 of the same one. I walked in for pickup and was asked by an associate named Debbie if we needed any assistance. She found our slip that was hiding behind something, and went to the online order cabinets. We were planning on returning the additional item, and keeping the other. I noticed the box for one was badly damaged and asked that I keep the one that comes in the intact box. Debbie acted like I was an idiot for asking this of her, and then told me to take which one I wanted. I then prompted her that I needed to return the 2nd item, and she went “yeah that’s what I was going to do” in a rude tone. I was sort of shocked by her behavior at this point so I asked which desk was hers and she said “I’m taking you right now to my desk right now” so I backed off and just followed her. The rest of the interaction went okay, but this really was the worst way to be treated at any establishment. Avoid Debbie as much as you can. She’s a cranky, old lady who clearly hates working...
Read moreI was really disappointed with this store, I'm not sure if this is true in all the physical locations but there were limited items and the prices were almost 30 to 50 percent more than the online store. They would not allow the same prices as the online store. I had researched my items and had a list. Out of 9 items they only had 1 and I had to search the almost empty store for an employee to assist. Oh my goodness they wanted me to get my phone out log into their website and I could find out which isles my "wish"list of items were located. I had to again find another employee to assist with the price difference between in store n online. So needless to say I left without my items. My son however found a nice young lady who actually took him around to help find his list of items. I will never again use Michael's period. That is why businesses are closing because they were local n honest! Anyone looking for crafts, paper products, etc....go to Walmart, Walgreens at least the items you purchase will be the same price...
