Was out in Portland to visit family for the week. My nephew was meeting a friend for drinks this night so I tagged along. It was not that far from my nephews house 15 mins roughly.
Atmosphere was not bad. Local bar with a nice vibe to it. They had a pretty good seating area. Big tables , small tables and a decent size bar which is were we ended up sitting to interact with the bartender more and faster service. It have a good amount of Monitors so we could catch the football games and baseball. They also had some slot machines for those into gaming. Keno can be played to if you are into that.
I was hungry so I ordered some food. They had a decent food menu. Appetitizers, wraps , burgers. I started off with their wings, because I like to try wings anywhere they are served so that I can compare. I ordered 10 wings half Buffalo and half Garlic Butter as recommended by the bartender. I also ordered a burger that you could build yourself that looked good when we first sat down and saw someone else eating one. I did want to have the clam chowder for a side, but the bartender encouraged me not to try it, so I stuck with the fries. Wings came out first and I thought they were good, the Garlic Butter was a bit much for me. It was good just too Buttery for me. The burger came out and that definitely was as good as it looked. I added mushrooms and Swiss cheese on mine.
Service was a bit slow at first because we were sitting away from the bar and I'll give it to them that it was a bit busy when we first got there. An interesting thing happened when we were outside and the bartender came out to smoke. She asked my nephew his name, then asked if he was Lao after hearing his name and said " Sabai-dee" which is "Hello" in Lao. I was impressed. So brings us into the bar and to find out after chatting with the bartender that she knew the same people as my nephew. So was a good interaction which made a good night of conversation and drinking.
Over all thoughts. It was a good spot to hang out at. The bartender made it comfortable to hang out. Service was good in all. Food was good. Was a good night out. Definitely will go back and try the spot again when I go back out that way.
I would recommend anyone out that way to just try it out if you are looking for something simple and not...
Read moreFirst time visitor to Oregon and I visited this bar for breakfast multiple times while staying at the nearby Holiday Inn, overall an enjoyable experience. The food was consistently delicious during each visit. However, I did have an issue with an Togo order of spinach dip—the portion seemed quite small. When I inquired about it on a later visit, a server informed me that the amount was pre-measured and likely accurate. While I understand portion control, I would have appreciated some acknowledgment of my concern and/or an effort to accommodate a potential misunderstanding.
Service varied depending on the server. Two of the four servers I encountered were fantastic—attentive, friendly, and welcoming. However, the other two, along with a server I didn’t personally have, gave off an indifferent vibe, making me question whether my presence was truly welcomed. Additionally, I noticed some surprised looks from other patrons each time I visited, which made me feel that diversity might not be common at this establishment. That said, I did encounter some welcoming staff and patrons, which I appreciated and encouraged me to return.
Sat at the bar and ordered to-go before heading to the airport, this was my last and best visit! The bartender was AMAZING!!! Don't recall her name but she made me a delightful lemon/lime water! She was fun and beautiful with the personality to match, keep her Anchor Bar!! She is the poster child for lovely service!
Despite the challenges, I loved the overall ambiance of the bar—the music and the atmosphere were great. Thought it was cool that folks were gambling at 8am, I thought of joining.
Would I return? Very likely, depending on...
Read moreI usually have a pleasant experience with the exception of it being a bit loud when football games are on especially when the seahawks are playing but they are called fans for a reason it us short for fanatics and being a football junkie myself i understand but i went in on a sunday at noon when it was relatively dead to play video poker and had to wait nearly 20 min at the door to ask for a machine (all were available but one) and after deopping a quick $50 asked to switch machines when it became painfully obvious the one i was on was colder than a December night in alaska i was told that even though there was 5 other machines open that i wasnt allowed to switch machines. Im soery...is it that difficult to wipe one down and put the key in another to enable it after i just spent $50 in less than 15 min not including my food which is was hesitant to eat after i saw them set it on the bar to refill someones drink and nobody seated at the bar had a mask on and they were with in arms reach of my plate. I have a compromised immune system and refuse to risk my health or the health of the people i care about to eat my overpriced appetizers. Needless to say i wont be returning anytime soon which is unfortunate because it was a favorite place of mine to unwind and enjoy a drink with a little...
