I had a crayfish party for 20 people planned out, and another company had to cancel my order as their fisherman was out. Another company I had used before was not answering calls. I wanted to have live signal crayfish, as they are the kind we would have in my native Finland, so didn't want to go for the Louisiana kind, and absolutely also wanted to have my own broth.
After searching, I found OM Seafood, and saw that they sold signal crayfish, but I figured they did that only locally. I had nothing to lose, so I contacted them and asked if they could deliver 25 lbs to San Diego that same week. I was happy to find out that they could! The delivery was to San Diego airport. I live 25 min from the airport, so it was not a big deal for me to go and pick them up from Alaska Air Cargo facility. The crayfish were packed in a styrofoam box and ice, and, and arrived live and well. Throughout, OM seafood was communicating and following up very well. And their price was great! The party was a success....

I called yesterday to check if this store had fresh tilapia. They said yes. I even asked twice: "It's fresh, right?" She says yes.
Next day I get there and find a bunch of tilapia on ice -- looking very frozen. I ask the women at the counter if it's fresh and she says "yes, fresh frozen". I find out that it's from China. OK, who lets the fish spoil before they freeze it??! Fresh means not frozen and not spoiled. Everything else is either frozen or spoiled. These are your choices. There is no such thing as fresh-frozen. There is flash-frozen, but that is still frozen.
Ended up buying fresh (never frozen) tilapia from Ecuador at New Seasons instead.
I spent half an hour driving there and back and 10 mins in the store. Huge waste of time that could've been prevented by having someone who speaks decent english...
Read moreSuper disappointed. They came recommended from another Seafood company for crawfish. We called ahead to make sure they had a certain amount needed for an event we were catering told them we were making the 2 hour drive. The guy that answered said yes they would have it by noon. Only to get there and they sold it all! They then finally told us they had another shipment coming in at 2pm. Which would now make us late for our event catering. So while waiting were told we needed to wait outside in the 90° weather rudely to wait for the next shipment to come in hopefully by 2pm. (Which didn't sound promising) Ended up leaving empty handed, late for event, and a lot of wasted time and fuel. Won't be...
