Christmas Day, we came to visit your restaurant. We decided that we wanted to have some Vietnamese coffee after our lunch.
The restaurant was less than 3/8 occupied. We instructed the staff at the entry that we were only coming for a post lunch coffee.
We were initially seated at a large round table. The waitress brought menus and we politely explained that we wouldn’t be eating and only wanted to enjoy some beverages.
This is where the hostility began.
Out of nowhere, she brashly demands that we move from the table we were already sat at by her for coffee, and has us relocate to a slightly smaller table (allegedly) to make room for larger groups to eat. Side note: This is 2PM and after the lunch-rush.
We politely obliged, and yet were brashly pushed to start giving our order before we could even sit down.
Upon being seated at the smaller table, the waitress rudely demanded that we pay and leave because we weren’t at Starbucks. We were surprised considering we had already explained we came for their Vietnamese coffee several times.
Obviously, if the location was busy we wouldn’t come in for drinks alone. However, it was SLOW and already 2 PM. Anyone who’s worked at a restaurant knows between 2-5Pm is usually down time— so a family requesting six dollar coffees is going to rack up a minimum of 30 dollars (which is about the price of two plates of food). East money.
You’d be making a profit on low maintenance ticket items at a time when you have fewest customers.. I’d argue this was a Bone-headed move by your staff!
Worst was the negative American comment and not being Starbucks remarks. We didn’t ask for anything off-menu. We didn’t ask for any special accommodations. We were polite despite overt rudeness) up until the end when we were told that we weren’t welcome to enjoy our paid beverages inside.
So, I had enough and instructed my family leave. I’m not going to argue. You obviously don’t want business.
There is a reason why neighboring restaurants have hour long waits and others like yours are empty— it’s bad food scores. Hygiene, or terrible service. Maybe all three. Our family can certainly attest to the terrible service component.

Read moreIt's a hidden gem in PDX area for delicious, consistent quality and flavor, never reheated from frozen Dim Sum 7 days a week! Go check them out!
I have been eating here on and off since 2016. Started in late 2021 to present, I slowly came back for selective items on their big menu because we moved to Portland and only live 12 minutes away.
It's a small family owned restaurant. Most staff speak 2-3 languages: English, Vietnamese, and Chinese (I can't tell you which dialect because I don't speak Chinese)! You will recognize familiar faces if you come here more than once. It's a good place for big group gatherings and you can be loud here over food, not alcohol.
This 5 stars review is for: Local family owned. Fresh, delicious, and consistent quality for Dim Sum at a very reasonable price, unlike the overrated reheated from frozen spot right down a few blocks which I will not need to named here. For reason #2, Thien Hoang is our go to spot for monthly Dim Sum with friends! Deep fried taro dumplings with stuffed mashed taro and ground pork is my all time favorite Dim Sum and it makes fresh here! My comfort custom made to order dry egg noodles stir fry with soy sauce with or without veggies and add any protein you want or not.
Their big menu is mixed with traditional and comfort Vietnamese food, Chinese food, and some cross over. I ate pretty much most of the well known dishes.
Overall rating of their dishes, I would give it 3/5. Items I have eaten: bún riêu, cá kho tộ/caramelized catfish in clay pot, canh chua cá/Vietnamese sweet and sour soup, several clay pot dishes, Vietnamese salads, and beef broccoli.
Some of my favorite dishes here are 5/5: fried taro balls, dry stir fry egg noodles with soy sauce, seafood congee (Vietnamese style), garlic stir fry rau muốn, and garlic stir fry snow peas leaves.
Perks: -Hot tea is complementary. -No automatic service charge for big group so make sure you tip them good, 20% or more, and as always cash is the preferred...
Read moreWe celebrated our Mom’s/Grandma’s 80th birthday on Friday night. The food was very tasty, great, and delicious. My siblings had ordered various food dishes for all of us to enjoy. Wonderful and pretty atmosphere with other groups of people were also celebrating birthdays as well. Was a busy place. We commuted from Salem and met our family here for dinner and was great. Love the staff members as they were helpful, friendly, and nice. A staff member was very sweet and offered to take a family photo for me. Hope to eat here someday again. Thank you, had a great experience. 👏♥️🥰🧸🙏
