I've been coming to the Tik Tok since 2007. I discovered what I always thought of as an awesome dive with killer food when I lived in the neighborhood. I didn't come as often when I moved out of Portland proper, but I still made it out when I could. I would rave to my friends about the beer battered fries. I lament that they no longer have their amazing Hungarian wild mushroom soup. In the last 2 years, I've become disabled and moved south of Oregon City, so I make it out even less often, maybe 3 or 4 times a year. Since I started using a service animal, I'd always been greeted with a smile and the same service I've always gotten. I introduced a new friend to them, my service dog in training with me, just a few weeks ago. The service was fantastic. My new friend thought your food was fantastic, even if the perfume the waitress was wearing was a bit overwhelming to her. Then, October 23rd. I come in, post concert, bringing a friend from out of town. I want to introduce yet another person to the amazing food and funky clock décor. Except, when I walk in, I don't even get a greeting. I don't even have the chance to ask my service dog in training to sit before the waitress blurts out in a rather irritated tone, "I need to ask if your animal is wearing a vest and to see his papers, please." I'm startled. First off, yes, my animal was wearing a vest. A very clearly marked one. Second off, both questions are not part of what a business is allowed to ask according to ADA law. I was flustered, and told the waitress this. She insisted again that I had to show papers. I told her, papers are not legally required. There is no such thing as a service animal registry. She still doesn't believe me, and is getting louder. She tells me that anybody can buy a service dog vest online. I don't bother to tell her that anybody can buy so-called registration papers on websites that scam people into believing that they're required. I pull out my phone and ask google to look up ADA service dog law (at this point my anxiety is getting so bad that I fumble and say FDA by mistake). I pull out a card that I carry copies of in my wallet for situations like these. It lists the ADA website with the text of the law. It has the information hotline. My husband pulls up the pdf of the ADA law about service animals. I explain multiple times that the only thing a business is legally allowed to ask is, "Is this a service animal and what tasks is it trained for?" The waitress snaps at me that I don't have to be rude to her. Her manager has joined the exchange at this point. Nobody is interested in the pdf of ADA service dog law that my husband has pulled up on his phone. Nobody thinks that they need to look at the ADA website that quotes the law that I have shown them. Nobody wants to call the information hotline that I've provided. I'm told that she has "Googled Oregon law". When I explain yet again that there is no such thing as papers, that it goes against ADA law, because requiring proof of registration and certification (which AGAIN, does not actually exist in any real sense of the word, beyond scam websites that rip people off) would prevent people on low and fixed incomes from access to service animals, both employees simply glare at me. The manager finally spits out the most ludicrous argument against ADA law I've ever heard, "It's house policy." I was told to leave. The store manager contacted me over this incident. She horrified at the actions of her employees and wanted to make it right. She met individually with the employees that I dealt with and made a flyer for her entire staff (both stores) that they could access at any time if they had questions in the future. When she had done all that, she then told me that we had a 30 dollar gift card waiting for us if we chose to return. I wasn't expecting the gift card. OK SO I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO INSULTED IN MY LIFE IF I COULD GIVE THEM NEGATIVE STARS I WOULD AND QUITE HONESTLY NO IM NOT JUST A TYPICAL COMPLAINER I ACTUALLY AM VERY UNDERSTANDING OF HAVING TO DEAL WITH PUBLIC AND CUSTOMER SERVICE BUT I WAS IN THE AREA AND HARDLY EVER GET TIME OFF DECIDED TO TAKE MY BOYFRIEND OUT TO EAT SPONTANEOUSLY WAS LIKE LETS CHECK OUT THIS PLACE RESTAURANT AND BAR I HAVE BEEN TO DIVISION ONE ONE TIME BEFORE AND IT SEEMED TO BE OK SO WE STOPPED ON 82nd RESTAURANT AND BAR ORDERED STEAK DINNERS LITTLE ON EXPENSIVE SIDE BUT IT WAS OK HERE GOES THE ACTUAL PROBLEM THE WAITER SEEMED NICE SO I GAVE HIM A 20 CASH TIP AND SIGNED OUT MY CARD FOR MY DINNER AND LEFT BUT THE WAITER ACTUALLY WROTE IN HIS OWN TIP ON MY RECIEPT TOO $10 😲 I FOUND OUT A COUPLE DAYS LAYER WHEN I SEEN IT COME OUT OF MY BANK ACCOUNT SO I CALLED AND SPOKE WITH MANAGEMENT THEY LEFT ME A VOICEMAIL SAYING THEY WANTED TO MAKE THINGS RIGHT SO I CALL THEM BACK THEY SAY THEY ARE SORRY AND WOULD LIKE TO REPAY ME MY 10 WHICH WAS NOT THE POINT BUT IT WAS THE PRINCIPAL THAT IT WAS WRONG SO I AGREED AND I WAS ACTUALLY SURPRISED WHEN THEY SAID THEY WOULD LIKE TO OFFER ME A FREE DINNER TOO I SAID THANK YOU VERY MUCH AND I WOULD TRY TO COME BACK TO THEIR ESTABLISHMENT AFTER THAT WHAT DID I NEED TO DO THEY SAID NOTHING CONE IN TALK TO BARTENDER AND THEY WILL LEAVE MY NAME AT REGISTER I GO IN AGAIN BECAUSE IM ALL ABOUT SECOND CHANCES AND I LIVE FAR BUT I CAME AND WAS ACTUALLY GOING TO SPEND MORE MONEY THEIR THAT NIGHT BROUGHT MY BOYFRIEND AND GIVE THEM A SECOND CHANCE TALK ABOUT EMBARRASSING I GO IN AND BARTENDER ACTED LKKE I WAS A THEIF EVEN AFTER I LET HER LISTEN TO THE VOICEMAIL AND SHE KICKED US OUT SHE WAS THE RUDEST AND SHE SAID DHE WAS A MANAGER I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO DISRESPECTED AND I WOULD WATCH YOUR RECEIPTS IF I WAS YOU GOING IN THEIR THEY WRITE THEIR OWN...

The waiter seems as though this is something he had never done and has no interest in either. All I wanted was cheesecake ala mode and coffee. Initially, ordering coffee was too much as I was given nothing to stir the creamer, which I had to ask for twice. When it became apparent that he could not figure out what the cheesecake was, I ended up with chocolate cake. Right now, I do not have the energy to correct everything someone is doing and not get paid for it. The ice cream had freezer burn, and the cake was underwhelming. But when you want cheesecake and get chocolate... It was 10 minutes after I got my order that I had to get his attention for napkins.. and then another 20 minutes before I got the one refill of coffee after alginate repeatedly. There was one refill prior that I obtained after repeated requests by taking my cup to the counter and asking the cook, who was very polite and willing to help. Although I'm sure it would hope this is his first night serving, the only other point of blame would be the trainer for not giving him some insight on the very basics. Overall, my ratings generally will be the same for tiktok as this reminded me of Thanksgiving. Although it was a holiday, my food was served cold and made up to me by comping a piece of cake. Shouldn't it have been the cold food that I could only eat because of how hungry I was. But that's people for you. It's only about the money. And with every visit, i am certain that less of mine will be going into this business. This is sad because it seems like I used to like this place, remembering food that was hot and service that was, at the very least, decent. And I've been waiting for my check for about 30 minutes. I can't wait to see the mistakes on...
