Salon Annora — Attraction in Portland

I was ready for a change and saw Coreene Collins for color and a haircut. It was such a great experience from start to finish. I had seen a previous stylist for a consultation who was so negative about my hair I actually walked out and left in tears, so I was definitely apprehensive! The length of this review is a clue about how obnoxiously vain I am about my hair:

PERSONALITY Coreene is what I call "Minnesota Nice" even though she's not from MN :). Her demeanor is very welcoming and she's a good listener. She picks up on your concerns and actively explores them. Hey, a haircut with a complementary therapy session is always a plus! She's easy to talk to (and I don't like small talk generally). She reflected that I sounded like I wanted a big change and made recommendations to bring out my eyes and beauty. I already like her!

CUT My hair was full on the top and shaggy on the bottom due to heat damage and bad layers. I wanted a "Lob" with a side bang. I lost confidence in the side bang once I started thinking about a horrible haircut I had when I was 13 that actually made my face look wider (something I didn't think possible). Coreene totally picked up on that and did a slight bang cut and we stopped there. I love the fullness of my hair now and I've gotten many compliments! It's nice to have my hair back to its full luster.

COLOR Oh, this is equally good! She took me a shade darker and was entirely right that it brings out my eyes. She added copper highlights, a fun change for this time of year. She recommended a deep conditioner that's added to the color and repairs/protects your hair from damage. I love the change and my hair...

Katy and I are working toward returning to my natural color which is gray. Katy was amazing I never would have been able to complete this process without her talent and vision. She worked with me on a plan to move to a lighter color and blending the hair so it looks natural. The pictures show how my hair transitions from brown with highlights to nearly completely gray. It was a difficult decision to let my hair go to natural gray because I thought I had no other option other than living with that gray strip that is a dead giveaway. When I told Katy that I wanted to go gray, she was excited and upbeat as she always is. She was able to work up a plan. She explained and assure me that I could still have a nice look while letting my gray hair grow. As always she did a great job. She always takes her time being thoughtful and precise with the color change which was to get the hair as light as possible and let the gray blend in. She is really an artist. I could not be happier. I booked with Lisa and had such a great experience! I was so surprised at how quickly I was able to get an appointment, same day, within a few hours of me searching.

Lisa was so attentive and professional and genuinely kind and fun! I was pretty anxious to be going to a new hair stylist after some not-so-great experiences with different stylists in the past, but Lisa was so friendly and accommodating as well as very skilled! Something I really appreciate about Lisa's approach was that she helped me pivot to a more realistic goal, I was looking for styles that were for people with longer hair than I have, and she was so respectful about it-clearly, she is very knowledgeable!
