Newbyginnings is a nonprofit organization that opened in October 2013. When my ex and I were struggling to make ends meet on one income, I heard about Theresa Hart and the help she provided to veterans in need. Desperate for financial assistance after having my car repossessed and running out of groceries, I reached out to Theresa for help. Despite not being able to offer much financial aid at the time, she still managed to provide me with a basket of snacks and gift cards to Texas Roadhouse. It was a kind gesture, and it meant the world to us when we were at our lowest point. This organization was born out of deep sadness, but it is truly incredible. The more people who support and help it grow, the more veterans on the edge of despair they can assist. I was once in that dark place, feeling suicidal and lost. I thought no one would care or offer help. That's when Theresa came into my life and saved me in ways she may never realize. Not only did she provide me with food that day, but she also had a heartfelt conversation with me about hitting rock bottom. Her words completely shifted my mindset and made me see that giving up wasn't the answer. I am forever grateful for the help she provided me that day, and I know I can never fully repay her kindness. However, I am able to support her mission by donating what I can when I have the means. Since my divorce and encountering troubled times again, I have found solace in Theresa and her team at NewbyGinnings. Having their support has made facing these challenges feel less overwhelming, as I can lean on them for support and essential items that we need without having to spend extra...
Read moreNewby-ginnings has been a total blessing to our big family (and if you're a vet/military family, I strongly encourage you to check it out and spread the word)! It's uncanny how I'll often add an item to my shopping list and there it is the next time I go in! We needed baby formula for our then 6 month old... and within a week or two and for months to come, they had a steady supply of full size tins of baby formula! We only needed to buy 1 can at Walmart before we got a windfall of all that we needed at NB, taking her up to her 1st birthday (when she could start in with regular milk)! What a blessing and a huge cost savings for our big family! We moved here with minimal furniture... and most of our house is now outfitted with lovely pre-loved but excellent condition furniture we received at NB! We've also gotten all sorts of fun extras (kid games, crafts, holiday stuff) and practical things (adult/kid shoes, bed sheets, pans), plus essentials like produce and other foods! Every time we go, it's an adventure and a welcome social opportunity as everyone is so caring to my family! Fist bumps and high 5s abound with the volunteers and my kids! :) I joke that NB is like "Cheers": it's a place "where everyone knows your name." It's a taste of good old-fashioned camaraderie and hospitality! :) Theresa has made it a haven for so many folks to come together with a shared mission of service and support for local military/vet families and fellow patriots to commune! I hope her Newby-ginnings continues to grow and thrive for many...
Read moreI very much appreciated how Mrs. Newby, personally gave us a tour of the Facility and what & who/m it was for and all about. US. Putting our lives out there for one another in doing what we must for those that need us. It doesn't matter what one believes in or not(Thats what makes us American). When it all comes down to it. ""There's no greater love, than a man(or woman);gives their life for their friends." John 15:13*. And this means , yes, to Sacrifice oneself literally, andm to Die for them. But even more than that...(and one would think, "what could be more than giving up your life literally by dying for others?"). And is the Perfect question. I'm speaking of doing the Harder thing: Living for Others. A living Sacrifice. A daily care for our fellow man, whether we agree with their views or ways or not. That's what touched me the most...when Mrs. Newby told me about her Son's Surv-iving(Serve-living) Buddies that looked to Mrs. Newby for help afterwards. And she helped. It may not have filled the void for the loss of their dear Son in helping these men. But it gave her/them/the Newby family a sense of Purpose. Especially in the fuless of the word, Service. So, Thank you Newby Family "for Your Service". 😂🤟☝️
Sincerely, your Fellow Laborer in the Faith, Brian K. Banks U.S. Navy, USS Mauna Kea, AE-22 Gulf War/ Desert Shield ( Ever Contending...
