As a recent transplant from Wenatchee, I've been searching for good Mexican food in the area since I moved here three years ago. I was first impressed by nice looking building and beautiful decor inside. Our server was attentive and friendly! The menu offers lots of great choices. I was really excited to try the food. I'm thinking to myself, " Please let this be as good as it looks!" Oh boy. Let the disappointment begin.
I'm reading these reviews from people talking about how great the chips and salsa is. ???? Do these people not have taste buds?! The salsa was spaghetti sauce. Seriously. It was seasoned with what tasted like Italian seasonings. Oregano, basil, and some other weird seasoning that doesn't belong in Mexican food. It was so bland we tried doctoring it up with lots of salt and pepper. Still better suited for spaghetti noodles. This was the mild sauce, so we asked for the spicy, hoping for better. This one tasted like spaghetti sauce with crushed red pepper seasoning. I don't think there was cilantro or jalapenos in the salsas. What a disappointment. So we shoved it aside. And waited for our meals. I won't go until l into too much detail, but the carne asada was grey. IT WAS GREY!! I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure beef shouldn't be grey, regardless of how it is cooked. Maybe because there wasn't a sprinkle of any seasoning on it? I've never cooked steak with no seasoning added, so maybe grey meat is the result of that. The rice had the weird Italian seasonings in it, that's just wrong. And the beans? Were just beans. No flavor. No salt. Not even the weird Italian seasonings. It turns out it wasn't just the beef that's not seasoned. The chicken as well. The chimichanga just had plain ol' boiled shredded chicken without any marinate or seasonings. It's like the chicken I give my dog when she has tummy issues. And with the unreasonably expensive prices, I was one sad and unsatisfied gal. But it wasn't all terrible. The chips were fresh and crispy, and the soda wasn't watered down. I really, really wanted this place to be good, but the hunt continues for good Mexican food without having to drive all the way back to...
Read moreI am new in town so I'm trying out all the local spots. I got takeout from this restaurant because it had high reviews. I arrived and was nearly knocked over by a man leaving so intoxicated he could barely figure out which side to push open the door to leave(so the drinks are probably strong). The gentleman who took my order over the phone was very polite so I had high hopes even though the online menu prices were high. I figured it must be high quality food. I was wrong. I ordered chicken enchiladas and a vegetarian burrito. The chicken quality was poor and the overall size of that meal was VERY Disappointing. The vegetarian burrito was decent unfortunately they put the guac and sour cream (super tiny portions) in the chip bag so we didn't see them till after the meal.My main complaint would be the pricing. 15 Dollars for a vegetarian burrito? The chicken enchiladas were cheaper which should have been a huge red flag. The gentleman at the front tried to charge me 16 dollars for the burrito! Luckily I was paying attention to him ringing me up. I wouldn't have even gone there if there current prices were listed online. Apparently the prices had gone up and they didn't bother to change them online. I just moved from a heavily Latin populated area so my maybe I am spoiled in my expectations but this food was average at best and I was so disappointed in the meal especially at the over inflated price. The service I received was great except the over charge but save your money and...
Read moreThere's a HUGE choice of Mexican restaurants out there. If I were to pick one solely based off of wanting the dining experience that used to be, this would be it! I wanted to give 5 stars just for the service. Our waitress was phenominal. I'm absolutely terrible with names, especially if they don't have a name tag, but she made me feel like I was a guest in her home! She is the type you can tell genuinely likes people and cares about her service. By the end of the meal, I felt in a happier mood and appreciated, not to mention very full.
The menu is huge like the very refreshing margaritas. You are offered warm chips and homemade salsa (hot & mild) while you peruse the menu. I had the shredded beef burrito plater that included rice and beans. I'll say that it wasn't the most flavorful ever but the beef was fall apart tender. I'm fairly basic/safe when it comes to spicy foods so I'm probably not the best opinion for this review, lol.
My co-workers had the street taco platter. Everyone was so hungry and dug right in...I failed to get a picture, but it looked appealing and the plating beautiful right down to the roasted pepper. They did not appear to be dissatisfied in any way. I'd go back again for sure and take a little more time to enjoy the experience. That's why we splurge and pay those prices instead of cooking at home...
