I couldn’t see where to send private feedback so sending here.
Went to the Fox Point Dune Bros last night: Wow the quality of the fish and shellfish AMAZING !!!!! We had the fluke crudo dish, (white)clam chowder, steamed little necks, and mahi ( in the fish and chips) all so fresh and we could tell! Wow is all I can say. Also, there were little berrys with the crudo… ”cherry something” was so tasty and a little sweet. The broth of the steamed clams was also a highlight- such flavor! Herbs and spices were amazing.
However, the breaded crust on the fried calamari was way overdone. I should have returned the calamari, but I am trying to support local businesses. The color of the crust was darkbrown not light brown. The calamari was dry and hard really inedible ( but I ate it- no one else ate it). Too much breading on the Mahi fish and chips.
The mahi I picked out from the crust was amazingly light and super super fresh- just delightful. The amount of fish was smaller than I had received before at Dune bros downtown however ( even tho I paid more for the Mahi fish and chips). I guess I would just order the cheaper fish with the fish and chips going forward.
Also, very nice selection of drinks- all very well suited to pairing with seafood.
The waitress was a little off- just putting down the dishes anywhere instead of checking with the waiter who had ordered what or asking us “who had this….?” The waiter who took our order was very professional and friendly, but otherwise the staff was a little “down” not friendly and cheerful.
A family nearby who had ordered 2 lobster plates and two fish and chip plates seemed overjoyed with their choices and seemed to finish every bite.
I wish I had sent back the calamari.
Hopefully helpful feedback. :) Thank you for sourcing the seafood...
Read moreI ordered fish and chips. The fish was pollock. The sauces and the fries were really good! But as for the fish...the piece they served me was too large and thick, I wish they broke it up and fried it in smaller pieces. Ratios matter! Also, they left the skin on the pollock. Maybe I am uncultured swine, but I consider fish and chips to be "entry level" seafood. I have never had fish skin in my fish and chips. I really like how this place is unconventional and trying to push the envelope with peoples experience with seafood - great philosophy and mission. However I would recommend not messing with such a traditional dish as fish and chips by leaving the skin on the fish. It made one side of the fish rubbery and tough. Fish skin is really good for you and should be included in seafood dishes, but not in fish and chips (my opinon). I hope this feedback is received! Really good start, but room for...
Read moreComing from NYC, this place is EXTREMELY overpriced for the LOW quality of food. Take out for 2 people came out to about $90. Our 2 orders of fish and chips ($24) came straight out of a horror movie. Soggy mushy overcooked fish with 3inches of batter on the top but no batter whatsoever on the bottom (tossed it out, inedible). Crab cakes ($8) were actually just crab flavored fried dough balls that came out cold and with no flavor. Fish clam chowder ($12 yes, twelve whole dollars for a small overly salted soup with minimal seafood) tasted like they spilled salt in it. The only thing that was good was the 2 oysters we ate on spot when we picked up our food ($3 an oyster). Overall, I will never come here again, and have had better seafood in just about every other place I’ve been to in the world. You’ve...
