Puerto Rico is considered to be, ā€œThe Island of Enchantment.ā€ Not only does Puerto Rico offer so much in terms of beauty and adventures, people often forget that Puerto Rico is a US territory. That means that you don’t need a passport to go there—just the same ID you’d need to fly anywhere else in the US. It will be a great introductory location to those who have not travelled to the Caribbean or even outside of the US before. It combines a unique flavor of its own culture but still has the comforts of things you would find in the US if needed; such as great hospital care, transportation, super safe for travelers English is widely spoken, most native Puerto Ricans are incredible and welcoming, and so much more. Because Puerto Rico is a US territory, they also use the US dollar. That also means don’t have to pay foreign transaction fees when using your credit or debit cards. Essentially, traveling to Puerto Rico couldn’t be easier — some cellular carriers don’t even charge roaming to communicate with friends and family back home. As mentioned before, the take-away from these trips are not only meant to increase life experience but also getting involved, giving back, and supporting small businesses and local communities. All of the information above was gathered from my years of experience going to Puerto Rico, but not anything you can’t find off the internet yourself. I mentioned all of those things to set the tone as an ease of mind preface, but the real magic comes from the epic adventures you experience with Dale Pigford and his amazing family with PR Surf Adventures. I have had the privilege of exploring many places around the globe while being in a military family and also being in the military myself. The heartfelt care and stoke that your receive from PR Surf Adventures is hands down the best I have ever encountered. From the first time I met Dale and his family they treated me like an extension of their family. They were excited to take me to all of the amazing places they had discovered. I am sure they had been to most of the places they have shown me many times; however they are so hyped to live and proud to be in PR it is as if they are experiencing those places for the first time again every time they show their guest things for their first time. PR Surf Adventures truly takes you on a mind, body, and spiritual journey. Not only was my mind blown from start to finish while being hosted by PR Surf Adventures, after I had time to reflect on the events, I really started to dissect things much deeper. It dawned on me, after the fact, that we didn’t run into any issues and scored epic waves when surfing every time. That didn’t just happen because we got lucky. Dale puts so much heart and soul into maximizing your experience during and behind the scenes. He dials in the best places to surf with his vast experience knowing the best places for the right conditions. It is so comforting to go with a local like Dale who not only has paid his dues to gain the respect of other locals in PR to surf at certain spots only locals get to surf, but knowing the key holes, and best ways to get the most of those spots. Talk about ease of mind, and keeping the stoke level cranked up to maximum levels, you can expect that from PR Surf Adventures every time. I never imagined loving PR so much, and always wanting to go back as often as I can, and I have Dale Pigford and his incredible family with PR Surf Adventures to thank for that. PR offers so much. The awesome piece to add to all of this is that each trip you experience new things each time. You can continue to PR over and over again and get an amazing and different experience every time. I plan on linking up with PR Surf Adventures every time too (solo, with family, or with friends). I consider myself a person that is comfortable going off the beaten path, and trying to gain the most of other cultures/people. Imagine that mentality but also feeling like you are getting the red carpet treatment, and that is feeling you get when choosing PR Surf Adventures.

What an amazing surf trip my friend and I had to Isabella, PR guided by the Ananda Team. We went a little early in the season for surfing and the Ananda Team did an amazing job at putting us on all the best spots. The house on Shacks Beach was absolutely amazing with an ocean view and literally 30 steps to the beach. That spot is also perfect for foiling and is where they picked us up from, by jetski, for two days of E-foiling and Tow-In foiling. It’s also a great spot for kiting, snorkeling, and surfing among other adventures. Cayla was so detailed in locking in all the details of our trip, setting up lodging, stocking the fridge with all our food requests, and answering all our questions. Layne, their primary surf guide, was a lot of fun to surf with and really helped with the the details and breakdown of each spot as the entry/exit varies per location. You’ll also probably see him on a fishing charter as he’s a licensed Captain and knows the fishing and spear fishing spots really well. Layne is a true Waterman. On day two of Foiling we got to meet Rob, the owner, who is truly an amazing, hard-charging surfer, foiler and fisherman. He does it all and created this company to guide folks in doing all the water sports he loves doing. A very inspirational guy. We didn’t get to meet everyone else on the team but heard great stories and appreciate their behind the scenes work to make our trip a great one. So thank you Team Ananda! We look forward to seeing you next time.

My daughter just had her first surf lesson with Erich and it was a fantastic experience! So easy to set up and the communication prior to the lesson was excellent. I received a text first thing in the morning from Erich letting us know where to meet him and that the water was perfect. As a nervous mom, knowing that Erich had already assessed the water made me feel more at ease. Upon arriving to the beach, Erich gave us all a safety lesson for this particular beach. It was clear that safety was a priority. My daughter had a great day and even caught many waves. Not bad for her first time! Erich even extended the lesson free of charge and gave us other cool places to check out while we’re here. We could not have asked for a better first time experience with surfing. My daughter has not stopped talking about the lessons all day. In fact, she already shopping for surfboards. If you’re in PR definitely book a lesson or two with Erich. You won’t regret it!

PR Surf Adventures provided a amazing experience with E foil lessons. Dale gave a very thorough safety and land instruction to put you at ease prior to entering the water. Once in the water he gave continued coaching and encouragement. With his coaching I was up and riding within minutes of getting in the water. Whatever your interest’s are surfing, E foil or sightseeing I can’t recommend PR Surf Adventures enough. Thank you again for another great Puerto Rico experience.

Review from 2 years ago: I don’t think I could recommend Dale enough. He provides great comfort and piece of mind when paddling out at a new spot. He provides local knowledge on where to paddle out and comfort in the line up. If a spot seems out of your league he will put you on waves in your comfort zone.

We’ve used Dale every year we visit PR and the kids can’t wait to spend time with him and his family. We’ve explored areas of PR that we would have never found on our own. Great people and...
