This is a great park. I've really only gone here for pickleball. The other day someone on the court asked me, "what is over that hill?" referring to the hill to the side of the courts.
At that moment I realized I have no idea what's over that hill. There could be anything. In the end, I don't really want to know what's over that hill. Deep down I know there is something, but by some choice I've made either because I don't want to put in the effort to look over that hill or because I'm so blissful in my current circumstance of playing my games, I will not take a look. Someday, it will be too late. I will unknowingly go to Sunnyside Park for the last time and after that, I will not have the opportunity to walk up that hill.
This is Gnosticism. Everyday we have the opportunity to walk up the hill and we choose not to. Some see this as the only truthful worldview. "I'm not saying that there is something on the other side of the hill or that there isn't. I'm open to any truth." This is not couched in any kind of healthy nuance. Truth is at your finger tips. You know that. You wake up everyday trusting faculties of your body and mind. On the most basic level you live like there is truth, so don't leave your mind...
Read moreThere is no better place in Pullman to enjoy a nice sunny afternoon. The park is clean and large, plenty to do (disc golf, swings, courts, tables, pond) And the people of Pullman are mostly families so you won't be getting and smell of weed or other drugs. I recommend walking all around the park, it is much larger than you might think at first. Especially with its two entrances. The pond is not very deep so if you do happen to lose a disc in it, I wouldn't be so scared about lifting up those pants and trying to grab it with your feet! Me and my wife went out to play a round at the disc golf course. It starts just at the beginning of the park, right next to the community garden. It was not your typical park disc golf course. There were some difficult shots, some long shots, short one and all the in-between. You are constantly thinking of new ways to tackle the problems the course throws at you. All while playing on beautiful manicured lawns, and your high enough above the town that you can see the stunning rolling hills of Pullman. There are also plenty of benches to take a rest or just soak in the environment...
Read moreThis is a beautiful park. We love so much about it. I would love to rate it higher. However, we were there on mother's day. My husband's in a power wheelchair. The trails are often unexpectedly steep often dead in with no warning. We watched mothers with strollers look at what was in front of them and end up turning around and going another way because it was not going to be friendly for them pushing a stroller we saw one mother nearly lose her little girl into the pond because she was heading down this path and wasn't turning. And that ended well and the mother was very attentive otherwise if she'd have looked it way for even a second that little girl would have ended up in the pond. There's just great possibilities there just needs a little more work to make it accessible and to maybe hang have a warning signs if something is actually not going to be accessible. Keep working...
