If I could rate this property with a 0 I most certainly would. This was the worse and most TERRIBLE experience I have ever had in the more than 10 years I have rented! I would not recommend this complex period. From the lack of communication all the way down to just rude customer service.
My time living with this complex literally started and ended less than a complete week. It began by giving this complex right at a month to have the unit I would be moving into ready. Upon moving I visited the office to ensure the unit was still mine (as I had reserved it with a security deposit, knew they had just been taken on under new management and no one had reached out to confirm my moving dates) and was assured it would be ready when I moved just 4 days later.
The unit was not ready. I began moving my things in a unit that didn't have a working furnace. After noticing I called the leasing office and spoke to Keithan which he then sent out maintenance people to fix the apartment that I had just been assured days earlier was ready. They REWIRED my furnace so that in order for me to have heat I would have to run it on emergency heat while using the breaker to shut it on and off. I went back and forth and pretty much at the end of it all they were "right" and I was "wrong" and I wasn't taking that for an answer.
After contacting Duke Energy and speaking with a pleasant young lady, Makiya informed me that it would in fact, exponentially increase my light bill for running the heat like that. After speaking with her I brought my concerns to the office which they literally told me they didn't know what to tell me.-Derrick actually said that to me. No one cares and that is half of what's wrong with the folks that are employed here. To make matters worse, I contacted Ben Burton, the director of property management and Steve Merchant the owner of the new style residential and magnolia capital, and the two literally made excuses as to why my experience was the way it was. Neither of them owned up to anything! Someone needs to be held accountable for the excuse of a property management that is supposed to be serving the potential residents of Raleigh. Make it right. ALL THE TIME, ALWAYS MAKE IT RIGHT!
I literally lived in that unit for 6 day's, paid these people a ridiculous amount of money Just To move out in less than a week after getting there. Save yourself some stress and headache! Go somewhere else. For Raleigh to be as big as it is with so much competition you will be happier somewhere else.
Oh and the sweet lady Ms. Lisa who got me to "buy" Into the place left them days after they went under new management! What that really means I'm not sure as I don't know her but from my experience and the way other tenants were treated AFTER they went under new management has me convinced. I just couldn't imagine such a sweet lady could work...
Read moreWhen I first moved here I loved the rent Special and the nice view of the lake from my apartment. I felt it was a little over priced for a one bedroom but when the view and washer and dryer I dealt with it for the year of my lease. Soon after I started noticing HUGE spiders that hopped like crickets all over my apartment. When I complained about that I was told it was because I was so close to the lake. Apartment above mine had some type of leak in their bathroom which caused water damage in the ceiling of bathroom and my bedroom closet. Reported that to be told the leak was fixed , but heavy mold grew in my closet ruining a lot of my clothes and a whole bin of shoes. End of July there was a foul smell lingering in the kitchen/living room area of the apartment. Reported the smell because I assumed something had died such as a mouse I found what looked like droppings under my kitchen sink but was told they were too “small” to be droppings , a maintenance worker came to check out the smell & found nothing. I was told there were never any findings of mice or complaints of mice ever. A spot of mold grew on my living room wall, when I reported that I was told that the smell maybe came from something that got in the wall, got stuck right there and died, and that they would have to cut a hole in the wall to find out what it was. That never happened. September came and a visitor in my house spotted a mouse on my kitchen counter & took a pic of it which is below . Called maintenance to come on the spot , they came didn’t see anything and said they would send pest control next day. When pest control came they confirmed there were mice in my apartment based off of the droppings and huge hole under my kitchen sink. He plugged up the hole and put down poison under my stove. After that I kept hearing the mice move about in my apartment, made another complaint and traps were put down. Hour after the traps were down one mouse was caught. I thought there was only one and I could breathe easy, 2 hours later another was caught. All in all 3 mice were caught ! There is still currently one or more on the loose I heard one just last night, they have been getting stuck to the trap but breaking loose. Today I move out and I couldn’t be more happier ! This apartment is infested with mice , mold still in my bedroom closet. Only accommodation I got for dealing with these issues is “allowing” me to move out a week earlier than I was supposed to. They dealt with my issues very nonchalantly insuinuiting I was overreacted for being shook up about mice being in my home. I moved here a yr ago from Ct I lived in the projects 10 years and NEVER had a mouse, yet had to deal with them in an overpriced...
Read moreComing up on our third year of living here, we love it! I live here with my girlfriend and our cat. This is a safe place to live. The police and fire department are within very close proximity. We feel comfortable here. The office staff is kind and welcoming. The office staff know a lot of the residents by their first name and their apartment numbers. This has even been true with any new staff members that have become staff within our time living here. The maintenance staff is also relatable and kind. They have shown and informed me of a few tips for how to keep up a home, if we ever purchase a home in the future. There are two pools within the complex, but please do not dive in them. One located behind the main office and a second one located off of Shadetree Lane. There are two ponds within the complex. It is nice to feel apart of nature with the numerous trees, bushes, geese, birds, and a few squirrels that inhabit the area, watch out for geese poop occasionally! :D There are few insects within the apartments (at least ours) and with monthly (I believe) treatments for pests this also improves their unwelcome presence in your home. The geese also help repel insects with their presence, since they consume them as their daily meals. Trash and RECYCLING, are available and rarely pile up only due to extreme weather conditions permitting services from reaching any Raleigh complex. Recycling was a key reason for looking for a place to live somewhere for us, as some places do not accept this. PLEASE RECYCLE when possible! The apartment is located close to many different stores, shops, and restaurants within a few minutes drive. The complex is also a central location to the numerous malls in the area including Crabtree Valley Mall, North Hills, and Southpoint in Durham. The location is great for commuters who can access I-70, I-40, I-85 within a few minutes drive. Glenwood Avenue/I-70 is right next to the complex. There is a gym located at the main office, which currently includes; one elliptical bike, three treadmills, two elliptical machines, one leg press machine, one weight machine (not free weights, but will be coming soon according to office staff) I use it for upper body, medicine balls, stability balls (three sizes), mats, and resistance bands. There are many different people who live here. It feels nice to feel apart of a global community living in one place. As any place there are ups and downs, but the positive experiences have numerously outnumbered the negative ones. We are happy to have found an amazing place to call our home!!! Thank you everyone for the welcoming and warm residency we...
