Took the doggies on an evening walk in Idlewild Park tonight. I swear it's the greenest part of Reno 🌲🌸🌿 . . #dog #dogsoftiktok #idlewildpark #idlewild #walking #sunset #reno

Great park, fun things to do, see and eat especially on Friday evenings! I've been going to this park for over 10 years and I'm never disappointed. The one thing it needed was an updated playground which was completed over a year ago and what a great playground it is! Between being right on the truckee River, the original playground accompanied by the train, beautiful gardens, a pond with fountains in the center, nice pathways for walking or bicycling, decent bathrooms (most of the time, large covered picnic areas, playing fields, swimming pools (during the summer) and indoor facilities you can rent for events, etc. This park has it all! What is even better is its walking distance from our home and I just love the walk along the river to get here! Sadly, we are moving back to CA and I'm going to miss this park and all the wonderful memories. I remember the first time I discovered this park while out walking my dog just after I'd moved to Reno and when I walked to the park with my daughter in her jogger just after she was born and we still do just not in the jogger anymore!! She experienced many things for the first time in this park like her first Easter egg hunt, her first train ride, building her first sand castle, her very first swimming lessons and her first time riding a bike! I remember when she was a baby and the first food truck fridays we attended at Idlewild when there were maybe 10 or so food trucks at most but we loved it and have been coming back every summer since. We come here all year round and have had a few snow ball fights, built a few snow people and made snow angels here in the winter. During covid when we couldn't go anywhere we walked here and along the river through the park almost daily! This is a really wonderful park for all to enjoy and I'm really really going to miss it! If you haven't been here then you're missing one of the best parks in Reno or anywhere for that matter!

Wonderful park! We were driving from Phoenix to Redding and stopped at this park for a break. The playground was great! My two year old was very entertained and made lots of friends. It was a joy to see so many people enjoying the playground and park. The bike path was gorgeous 😍 I enjoyed the running creek (stream?). Unfortunately the restrooms were closed for the season (there were kids peeing in bushes) and there was duck poop everywhere around the playground entrance. I also wished there were sidewalks from the front playground through to the bike path and back to the gardens, I hate having to walk along the side of the street with a child.

absolutely adore this park and all the events that happen here. outdoor farmers market every sunday and a recent lavender honey fest that had community show up and out in the rain. a lovely park that invites warmness and togetherness. love to see families and fun celebrated here. the animals and abundance of trees have my heart. please be aware of kids throwing rocks at ducks. i’ve seen it, shooed them off but hurt kids will express their hurt onto things that make them feel more powerful. please love on your kids. anyway, the park is amazing. grateful i have a place to reset my peace and natural rhythm

One of my favorite places in Reno. There are beautiful walkways, the Truckee River bike path, river access spots, a nice park for the kids, a Rose Garden, base ball fields, reservable spaces, ponds with ducks, and more. In the warmer months they have a great outdoor pool and a cute little train ride that circles a duck pond, my son loves it and it is a family tradition take a ride every summer. The pool is nice and the bathrooms are usually well kept and well placed. Lots of open space too. This is also a great park to see the Fall colors!

Sunday’s Farmer’s Market is a place to meet friends, take a stroll with the family and learn about local artisan’s creations. Look out for local musicians making the wander really pleasant. The walk was wonderful. It was a beautiful day and the shade from the trees cut the heat to a minimum. Fresh food, honey and so much more. I was captivated by Rossi Bakes. Snack and lunch sized allergen-free treats. If I only had a cooler, I would have been able to transport more flavours home. Stop by and see Rossi Bakes.
