My first impression of The Nest was in driving by on my way to Oxbow Nature Park, and my eye caught the window displays; I was mesmerized. The clothing was beautiful; the style was as the sign said, "vintage." My favorite time in our country's fashion history is the 1930's through the 1950's, and the clothes that are featured in the window displays were beautifully curated for those time frames. I made it a point to set up a shopping date with to check out the inside of the store. My second impression came in stepping foot into the store, and it was equally as exciting; in fact, it was awesome. The large room you step into from the street, held vintage furniture, wall art, table cloths, and bric brac. It was so well arranged and displayed, I felt as if I walked into a museum of fine art. The minute you walk in, you are immediately greeted with a warm and friendly hello. As you walk further into the store, there is another room with all of the apparel, and I was immediately "wowed!" The dresses, the skirts, the jackets, the hats, the slacks, the night gowns, all of them were amazing! These clothes are indeed vintage; they were not recently made to look vintage. I even found a newsboy style hat for my son. I was further impressed by their customer service; the hat I purchased somehow did not make it into the bag with my other items. This became apparent after I got home and did not find the hat. After checking email to review the receipt, there was an email from The Nest informing me the hat was waiting for me to pick it up at any time. This was incredible! Not only did they remember exactly who had purchased the hat, but to send it to the correct email was astounding! A little later, I picked up the hat and found a couple more items to purchase. They staff were pleasant, warm, friendly, professional, and I will definitely share my experience with all my friends...
Read moreThe Nest is just about the best of the best when it comes to vintage clothing. I got lost in their clothing room for hours. Everything is beautifully curated, in excellent condition, and accessible in terms of sizing, era, and price. I had such a blast and walked away with a beautiful 60s mod velvet evening coat AND a vintage 60s Oscar De La Renta evening dress. Their antique room is also super fun, accessible, and loaded with treasures.
But truly, it’s the staff that makes this place my favorite place to shop in Reno. They are BEYOND helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. While I was in store, I met Max, who was chatty and sweet, complimentary of my purchases, and had great recommendations for good coffee in the area. I took my rings off to try on some gloves while I was in the store and managed to leave them behind. I didn’t realize it until I was halfway home to the Bay Area and when I called, Max stayed on the phone with me while he walked around the whole store to search for them. He didn’t find them but he did let the rest of the staff know to keep en eye out.
I’d just about given up hope that they’d be found and starting to hope that whoever found them and put them on was as in love with them as I’d been when I got a call from Karen, another staff member, about a month later. She found my rings! She went above and beyond to make sure they got back to me in SF, putting them in the mail and insuring the package while keeping me posted every step of the way. She even followed up with me a few weeks after they were delivered to make sure I got them.
I love these folks! I love this store! Please go and give them all your money and make some friends while...
Read moreThe cashier in front was extremely rude from the moment we walked as she didn’t bother to acknowledge us and constantly kept a watch on me as I was walking around the store making me feel like i was not welcomed. Compared to the other two ladies that had walked in after me and my sister (both were greeted with a “hi welcome in”). When we did approach the counter to pay for a pair of shoes she still did not bother to acknowledge us. She never once said the total and when a pair of $65 shoes came out to $73 we were a little confused so asked her how much taxes were, she then caught an attitude with us. After asking if we could just cancel the transaction she didn’t say anything but just scoff. Sadly it felt like we were judged based on our...
