Someone seriously needs to hire a new person to price items at this store. I have been to several DIs throughout Utah and Idaho, and this one has the highest prices out of all the others I have been to. Even compared to the DI in Idaho Falls, the same item will be half the price in Idaho Falls than in Rexburg. I think it's just frustrating to me when I end up spending more money on used items than if I were to buy it new from Walmart. It seems like every time I go into that store, I hear others getting frustrated and saying similar things.
It is also frustrating to me on how inconsistent the pricing is. For example, I found a used paperback poetry book for $.50 (and the original price was $1.45). And that's fine. But right next to it was a book by the same author, and the same size, yet it cost $1.50. So at the register, I asked why that was, and if I could get both books for $0.50? The manager that came over said she would meet me in the middle and do a $1 for each one ... Which was confusing to me because it would have been $2 anyways? It's not so much the cost I care about, but the principle of it. They should at least price less than the original price, and keep their...
Read moreI've been coming here on almost a weekly basis for two years and it's gone downhill very fast! They raise the prices on items while you checkout without explanation, the customer service is laughable (seriously, the workers will step in front of you or touch you while you're looking!), and it's so disorganized compared to their IF branch. I went today for the first time in about a month or so because I kept having bad experiences. And they just reorganized it, but now it's even harder to look through. Especially the book section--horrible! And no rhyme or reason for pricing. $8 for one pair of kid shoes, $3 for another. It's getting out of hand, and it's not what I expect from a thrift store affiliated with a Christian organization yeesh. I just go to Goodwill from now on. Yes, they have a reputation for having too high of prices, but I've only had really good experiences, and their return policy is much more generous. I gave them two stars rather than one because I can usually find what I look for, but that doesn't have to do with their policy, employee training, and pricing. It just had to do with the fact that probably most people...
Read moreThank goodness a goodwill opened up here. Sometimes you'll find a good deal here, but more often than not you'll find something in used condition for the same price as you could get it new. I've found plenty of Walmart brand T-shirts priced higher than they cost at Walmart. The other day I found a game you could get for $20 on Amazon priced at $75 here.
Be careful buying dishes here too. A lot of vintage dishes have lead based paints and DI doesn't do anything to check. I found a recalled dishes set the other day and told one of the managers it was lead based and he grilled me about it for so long before deciding to go talk to another manager about whether or not they can sell it.
DI used to be great, but it seems like they've grown accustomed to not having any competition here in Rexburg. It's a pretty bad sign when a thrift store consistently tries to sell used goods for more money than they...
