I agree with the review posted below. I have been to Katie’s Clay Studio MANY times and the fact is Katie is just not that friendly. She comes across as pushy and I find myself trying to placate her and “like” me. I agree it’s a weird dynamic when I am paying her and paying her well for a service. I too have had to wait for refills or help. She will yell if you attempt to get something- that they will handle it and “it’s a full service studio”. She is often chasing her son around the studio or barking at her “camp” kids. One afternoon we were the only ones there and she and her camp kids and the only other adult coworker there plopped down to eat a pizza and ice cream sandwich lunch. Right at the next table for close to 20 minutes and basically ignored us while eating and licking their fingers (gross!). There is a party room- send the camp kids and one adult in there and close the door. Then the other adult can eat later or switch in and out. Parties also seem rushed. We have attended many - we attended one and Katie was barking orders to the parents and the party host ended up in the hall for her child to open presents. When somebody is paying you $200 for an hour and a half event you don’t need to rush them out the door to the point where you comment when they set down a bag on a table- there wasn’t anybody even in the studio or a party afterward. We have hosted parties/events at many other local paint/craft type places and there is one a hop skip and jump away from Katie’s that blows her studio away. Charming, owner is so sweet, nurturing and a natural born teacher and you feel comfortable instantly and not like an imposition. Oh, and don’t get me started on when we approached Katie’s Clay Studio for a charitable donation of a small gift certificate for a local children’s organization. You know from the same area where most of her customers/income comes from. She said “no” rudely and snapped that she couldn’t give to everybody so the answer is always no. Hmmm- ok. Great attitude! There is certainly a way to graciously turn somebody down and well this wasn’t it. At our next meeting in front of about 30 parents/families we told them that we had been rudely shot down. Guess that $25 gift certificate was worth that word of...

Went to the studio on Sunday September 8th to tie dye with my daughter, I choose the studio because I did not want to deal with the mess of it at my home..staff was not very friendly as we went back to tie dye the women hands me a piece of paper with wash out instructions including “it will stain your tub” which is why I was coming here per the website (I would upload photos of this if I knew how) which says that for $3 per shirt they will have shirts washed out within 3 days so I say to the women I thought you guys wash them out..”no” is all I got back. So we are checking out and I say I was told you guys wash out and still insisting they don’t for about 15 minutes and even calls someone and finally says “we’re going out of town so they won’t be done for 3 weeks” as my daughter is crying because I promised her we would only not have them for 3 days I pay and leave in 3 weeks I am given 2 days to pick up the shirts or wait another week..so here we are a month later and I finally got the shirts back and one of them which we exchanged messages about colors was supposed to be all blues but is in fact blue and green! Overall, a $50 experience I could have lived without and will not use the...

Cool concept, neat projects, not the most pleasant experience otherwise... I've been to KCS at least 10 times. I've been there with friends, family, adults, kids, and even on my own. Katie is often engaged with several customers simultaneously, and consequently seems to be impatient with some of them. If you're painting, and she's busy, don't try to refill your paint on your own; the reaction will likely be negative. Just realize that you'll have to wait as long as it takes for her to finish her conversation with someone else before you can get a refill. I've literally been there for 3 hours trying to do 90 minutes worth of painting. I've got no idea why she is often so unfriendly when I've bent over backwards trying to be nice to her. It's like some weird customer service reversal where I pay for projects and try to say and do things to make her respond in a less snippy way. Anyway, that's why I quit going there last year. It's also the reason my family and my friends...

This place is the definition of a hidden gem. I live nearby and had no idea it was here until a friend pointed it out and suggested we try it. I am by no means an artist. I look like a big-time normie (white, square, short hair, not hip) and was afraid I'd be out of place. I was intimidated when I walked in and saw the folks there were cool artists doing pottery stuff. When I saw the pieces we could paint I thought I wouldn't be able to do it very well. But the owner (I think it must have been Katie) was so friendly and helpful! She answered all my dumb questions and gave us instructions on how to paint our pieces. She came over to help multiple times and made it such a welcoming place! If you think you can't do art, go here and try it. It was awesome and very relaxing and you'll learn some stuff. Can't recommend it enough!! I'm attaching the pic of the lil hedgehog dude I thought I couldn't paint. The way they fire the pieces makes it look better than it does when you paint it.

What to expect: The class for this sold out so we booked a private group, which was simple! They requested half the payment up front which they easily took over the phone. The shop itself is a little hard to find in the dark, it's one of the buildings in the plaza but the signs will lead you there. They supplied aprons, the stain/paint, brushes, gloves, hair dryers for drying and many towels. The instructions were easy to follow and time reminders were given to make sure you stayed on track as a group. You can BYOB and snacks, which were fun to enjoy between coats drying. This class was designed to finish in one session, therefore we finished up, dried them off and left with our creations. How it was: This was a really fun time and much better than a 'painting with a twist" for similar price. You can only have so many painted canvases, and this offers many different classes, mediums and designs. Super fun for a date night, group or birthday party.

First time visiting Katie's Clay Studio and I absolutely love it. Already planning to go back. The person working there walked us through the process. At first, it seemed a bit overwhelming all the things to paint and all the colors, but the help we got made it so easy. The studio was clean and brightly lit, and I loved the music that was playing. Weird side note... the soap in the bathroom smells so good. I would give it ten stars if I could. I am excited to go back next Tuesday and pick up my finished jar.
