Barnwood Arms — Attraction in Ripon

I enjoyed the shooting area, the lanes and the relaxed atmosphere there, but after shooting, I left my weapon there to be cleaned. My first mistake was not asking what clean meant to this place of business. I waited about a day or so to go and pick up my weapon after the cleaning and as soon as I got there I pulled back the receiver to have a clear opening to the chamber. I put my pinky in the chamber and touched the barrel area and pulled it out with copious amounts of black residue. I also touched the exterior barrel that was exposed after pulling back the receiver and used my index finger to swipe across it and also found black residue. I asked the person who brought my gun to me if it was clean and they went to get the person in charge of the cleaning. He also pulled back the receiver and twice used his pinky finger to sweep the chamber for residue and both times he found what I did, black residue that covered the pad of his pinky he used to sweep. Even after this he claimed the weapon was cleaned and was sure the findings were "negligible." So instead of arguing with that person about why finding that amount of black residue is not clean I decided to pay for the poor work they did and write this review. If you want your weapon cleaned appropriately and adequately do not take it here. I have yet to break down my weapon myself to look for more inadequacy, but I'm sure...

This is a great, small local gun store that treats you well. I bought a very high end scope there with the help of Dallas, who really knew his stuff and helped me pick the right one for my needs. It sat in my safe for a couple months before I got out to the range to sight it in before a hunting trip. I then noticed a small manufacturing defect. It wasn't huge, but not something I wanted to let slide for the money I paid. I was worried I would have to send it back to the manufacturer for warranty and be without it for several weeks. I called up Barnwood and they told me to just bring it back. Dallas swapped it out, mounted and leveled the new one for me, and even bore sighted it. I really appreciate that kind of service. They could have easily told me I was on my own and to deal with the manufacturer directly. Now instead of waiting to get my scope back right before my hunt, I'll be out putting rounds down range. What an incredibly friendly and well staffed shop! I drove up from LA to do a transfer. Staff member Kylie was fantastic and super friendly. She really took the time to make sure everything was in order while we talked “shop”!

Upon my return (and as luck would have it) another PPT, I was greeted when I walked in and made feel welcomed. Today I dealt with Megan, Josh and Kylie. All incredible. They’re a real credit to the store. As we know in these times, a lot of stores can’t be bothered to deal with transfers, let alone spend time with you. Barnwood arms treated me like I was actually buying something! Just great all round service from start to finish.

Good thing is they will ship to my FFL so I will continue to do business with them. They have a nice range of H&K also! There’s a reason why they’ve been in business so long. Great prices too. And they have a range !!...
