This is a pretty good climbing gym! My standards are pretty high because I come from the touchstone climbing gym family. I was a member of Cliffs of ID in Los Angeles, and the amenities there were quite a bit better than average. That being said my standards are really high. But the route setting at hangar east riverside is really good. In comparison to Cliffs the grades are much higher. I'd always been told that they grade soft at Cliffs, and once I came to hangar I understood why. The grades if you ask me are definitely more comparable to outside. This gym has quite a few auto belays which is really nice. Quite a bit of good bouldering, a kilter board, and all of your finger strength/campus tools. The staff is really nice, and helpful, all in all its a really good gym. I thoroughly enjoy...

I love going to Hangar 18 and climbing the walls. Been coming here for over 15 years and I never have a bad thing to say. The instructional classes for beginners are really fun and informative without being overwhelming. I feel safe with the autobelay and have made some good friends while climbing here. The instructors/staff always answer my questions and help me understand how to implement different climbing techniques. They also have rental gear so if you aren't sure whether or not you want to commit to buying your own gear, they have you covered. I prefer hangar 18 to a regular gym because they have a GREAT membership program. You can find a membership plan that works for you and cancelling/pausing membership is a breeze (unlike at most other gyms). 10/10...

I've been climbing for 6 years and took a date here. One of the female staff members insisted on giving me a belay lesson (understandable since she hadn't seen me climbing there before) then made myself and my date demonstrate knots. My date had no experience and was struggling with the knots, I had been taking care of all the tie offs but this staffer wouldn't leave us alone. I'm a certified arborist and am more than competent to insure the safety of myself and my date. I became so frustrated with this staff member that I took my date over to the bouldering area to be left alone. It felt like this staffer had an agenda of browbeating my date with what she didn't know and will not be recommending this...

Friendly staff, clean bathrooms, plenty of lockers, a massive wall for belaying, and a giant rock in the middle for bouldering. The routes are constantly changing and they each have their own difficulty rating. You'll find first time climbers here and also those who should be climbing El Capitan... After conquering your route and reaching the top you'll gain access to the upstairs gym. Giant fans and dock doors keep the place cool to help you climb longer. Single day passes are $18, shoe rentals are $3, and memberships start at $35.

Friendly and fun experience. It’s kid friendly and everyone who works and climbs here is super welcoming. The membership and rentals are affordable as well! At the time of posting, the harness is $3 and the shoes are $3. Highly recommend climbing here.
