The Fulton Mansion stands as a breathtaking window into the past, a place where history, innovation, and elegance converge along the shores of Aransas Bay. From the moment we arrived, the grandeur of this restored estate captured our imagination, its presence a testament to the vision of George and Harriet Fulton.
Stepping inside, we were transported to a time when craftsmanship reigned supreme. The intricate woodwork, the towering ceilings, the carefully preserved furnishings, all spoke of an era when homes were built with both beauty and purpose. Every room held a story, whispering of the lives that once filled these halls.
What makes the Fulton Mansion truly remarkable is not just its beauty, but its ingenuity. Built in the 1870s, the home boasted luxuries far ahead of its time, from indoor plumbing and central heating to gas lighting that illuminated the lavish interior. It was a house of forward-thinking design, a rare glimpse into the technological advancements of its day.
The preservation of this historic site is nothing short of extraordinary. Walking through the mansion, we could feel the care and dedication poured into its restoration, allowing visitors to experience its history in a deeply immersive way. Beyond the walls of the home, the surrounding gardens provided a peaceful retreat, a reminder of Harriet Fulton's touch and the life that once flourished here.
Our visit to the Fulton Mansion was more than a tour, it was a journey through time, a chance to stand in the footprints of those who shaped this region. For anyone with an appreciation for history, architecture, or the stories of those who came before us, this is a must-visit destination. We left with a profound sense of gratitude for those who have worked to preserve this incredible piece of Texas history, ensuring that its legacy endures.

Read moreUPDATED: 8/23/2025 - I was finally able to see the home. I visited 3 years prior, but missed the ticket selling cut off time. Highly recommend. $7.00 per person, self guided, nice staff with historic information and able to answer questions. I recommend seeing the inside of the home first and then touring the basement. They started building the home in 1874 and moved in during 1877. The family lived in the home until 1895. The home had many modern updates most homes did not have in that time period. It is beautiful and I love the history. Parking is free. They have a small gift shop in the ticket area. 5/29/2022: I was only able to see the outside because they stop selling tickets at 3:15 pm… I arrived at 3:25 pm. I was really excited to see this historical site, but I understand there are rules. I should have planned better. Hopefully I can visit another time in the future. It was interesting just seeing the outside. I’m happy I at least got to walk the property. It’s very pretty. From what I read online, they are open everyday except Monday, tickets are $7 per person and from my personal experience today, they stop selling tickets 45 minutes prior to closing. See you next time,...

Don't forget to check out the visitors center and gift shop while you're there, the folks who work in there are the best, soooo nice and they have some neat stuff. I brought home a fish gurgle pot that totally delights me. No, I'm not telling you what they are, you go see for yourself, they come in three sizes, you might want one too! And husband bought me a poison ring, it looks great on my hand and it makes me smile to look at it, both because I love him and because it makes me think of the good times that we've shared at the Mansion.
Go create memories at the Fulton with someone you love, I promise your time will not be wasted. The tickets to tour the house are inexpensive. Please remember to leave a donation if you can, many of the restoration projects on the Mansion are funded through donations.
