I spent $40 as one person. I had not been in some time, I'd say about seven years, and I was thinking about that famous bread pudding. Went to their website, saw the salad bar.The photo looked amazing, Olives, broccoli, big cherry tomatoes, dark leafy greens, I was sold! I drive all the way there from corpus, and I walk in the hostess was a little cold but not a big deal. Walk past the salad bar. Looks nothing like the picture online, but it's not bad. I ordered the soft shell crab sandwich, but I don't really like house made chips. I substituted with fries, not knowing it was going to be a $5 upcharge. The waitress did tell me she had to charge me more but I didn't think it was going to be the cost of one single trip to the salad bar more or less. But that's my fault for not clarifying the upcharge. It just seems extremely aggressive for a side of fries. The fries were very good but I don't think it was $5 worth of fries. Nonetheless. I paired it with an unsweet tea. One trip to the salad bar and I got a bread pudding to go. The bread pudding was great, lived up to all my memories and expectations. Soft shell crab sandwich was great.Lived up to all my memories as well. Would I go again? Maybe if I was in the area, I would probably not get the salad bar $40 for 1 person, it just feels extremely steep but I'm not mad at the quality of my meal.

The service was terrible. The waitress #7 was rude, inattentive, slow, and actually just didn’t bring just me things but did the rest of the party of 11 at our table. I asked if there was a full bar and her response was, “do you really need it?” She brought out half the drinks and then didn’t bring the rest. Someone else has to bring them while she asked the other people at our table what they wanted and brought them out one at a time. Then it took 20 minutes before we were even asked if we were ready to order. This was at 3:30 and it was not busy. Three tables that were sat after us were waited on before us; drinks, orders, everything. The food brought out was just ehh. The fried calamari was under cooked, the mahi was overpriced, temperatures were lukewarm, and the burgers and fries were fast food quality. After my husband finished all of his water, then all of mine, she came to the table with boxes although all of our food hadn’t even been brought out yet. She saw the empty cups and I had to ask her if WE could get more water. She brought him some but not me. The kids sodas were refilled without even being asked. $73 for sub-par everything and this was only one of the three tickets. We won’t be coming back.

Maybe just a bad morning service. Wife took us here for her birthday lunch. We ordered The Shrimp Po Boy with one trip salad bar. The coconut shrimp with gumbo with orange marmalade. Gumbo came out smelled rancid. Told my wife not to eat or succumb to possible food poisoning. She obliged and got the one trip salad bar instead. For 1 trip you can barely make it worth it with the tiny disc plate they provide. For $3.99 I became an engineer of some sorts figuring a way to get my $3.99 worths but to no avail. The salad bar is an A opt for the $7.99 unlimited trips however. Fries were made to order hot and fresh. Coconut shrimp hot fresh the orange marmalade made it pop. Shrimp po boy bread was at least day old tomatoes were slimy just pulled them off. Onions were fresh and shrimp made to order hot and fresh. We think our server took the rancid gumbo back to the kitchen and they repackaged it and gave it to another customer but no proof as the bowl had the same stain another customer had on their bowl. Service was bad as well. But I know these guys work hard still tipped accordingly. Rave reviews about this place didn't want to sink it with a 2 star so I kept it a 3

I'm not sure why we decided to give this business another try. It's always a disappointment. First, they had the downstairs closed for all tables. So you have to walk up a narrow stairway that's also used by servers running food up and down. It gets very crowded, often. It's so hot upstairs! We were all sweating profusely while trying to enjoy our mediocre dinner. We asked our server if she could turn down the air a little or move our table. She said the owner won't budge on the air temperature, he doesn’t matter how many customers complain.. So back to the stairs.. you have to take them up and down to go to the salad bar. Which was pretty difficult for my two elderly parents. It just doesn't make any sense. If the temperature upstairs is a common complaint and so is the stairway.. why not just close the upstairs, since it's much cooler downstairs AND the salad bar is down there!? Seems like it would solve so many issues! It would also solve the issue of you having to search for your waitress for 20 minutes to get a refill on our drinks. It makes the servers jobs so much harder, too! Running food from the kitchen downstairs, to all of their customers upstairs. They can only carry so much. So literally everyone's food comes out and all different times. My food was completely cold by the time I got the lemons I had asked for. Which, you would think with all of the condiments they give for their dishes, 3 plates of seafood would come with at least ONE lemon wedge. Guess it's not in the budget. What's also not in the budget is good QUALITY food. The seasoned veggies are frozen, not fresh. The rice taste like it came from a cardboard box. My scallops were rubbery and cold by the time I got the lemons that I requested. My husband had the shrimp and beef sticks. Which was mostly veggies. He had maybe 3 small shrimp and 3 small pieces of beef on his sticks. My parents ordered a fried seafood platter. Most of their shrimp was overcooked and rubbery, The only decent thing was the drinks. They were amazing. In the future, we will give any new restaurant in town a try before we ever come back...

My wife and two kids ate there based off of the google reviews. I normally don’t leave reviews but felt I needed to. As mentioned in some of these reviews, there was about 30 minute wait. Not a problem as I expected it. We took the first available seats which was the upstairs dining area. Little did we know the AC wasn’t working up there. It worked downstairs but not upstairs. After waiting for 20 minutes to get our drink order in we were literally in a sweat box with about 30 other people. We placed our order after about another 20 minutes. The prices are normal for this type of restaurant at around $20 a plate.

An hour later we got our food. Our $20 seafood platters fit on a salad plate. Very disappointed. The shrimp was over cooked to the point you couldn’t peel it and the grilled shrimp was burnt.

We ate what we could and paid our $100 tab. Had to stop at the Stripes on the way to our room to get a snack.

I gave it two starts instead of 1 because the waitress was doing the best she could in the conditions she was working in. She was so flustered with the heat that she said she was going to quit if she was placed in this area again without AC.

If you are going to run a business, especially on the coast, let the customers know that the AC is down or close that portion of the restaurant down. We would’ve gladly sat outside or chose another area, had we known. I’ve ran a business for 20 years and customer service is key to success. If they normally treat the customers like they did tonight, I’m not sure how they stay in business.

It may have been a bad night, but I would not recommend this place. We were literally soaked with sweat and it was too hot to even eat in there. The Boiling Pot next door is 10x the restaurant with better food, service and...

Seeing a line consistently at this restaurant, we were excited to try it. This lil restaurant sits by the ocean and has some nice views which is always pleasant. That was as good as it gets for me.

When we arrived, there was no line. The hostess who welcomed us and seated us had a scowl on her face and we felt as if we interrupted something she was busy with. The waitress who waited on us was friendly enough though. Between us, we ordered:

Each dish we were a choice of soup so we tried both:

Gumbo: Served luke warm, this gumbo did not taste like any gumbo I have had. It almost had a canned soup taste with some hot sauce added in. Not very good.

Tortilla: This came with a large amount of huge thick tortilla chips piled in it - not what I am used to with tortilla soup. This was served luke warm as well. The broth had a pleasant flavor but nothing special for sure.

Appetizer -

Oyster Cocktail: Raw oysters and served out of the shell. These were big, fresh, and delicious!

Entrees -

Shrimp Brochette: Bacon wrapped shrimp. The bacon was burnt and the shrimp overcooked. Served with flavorless vegetables. The rice was good. Definitely not worth the price we paid for it.

Small Fried Fish platter: This came with two fairly sized pieces of fried white fish. The batter was light and cooked perfectly, I loved. It was served with a baked potato that was placed upon the butter so I had floating melted butter on my plate and none to put on my potato lol. I thought this dish was over priced for the quality of food I was served. I expected better.

Pros: Raw Oysters

Cons: Gumbo, Shrimp Brochette, over priced for...
