Well kept trails good for hiking and biking. I really like that there are signs directing hikers to start opposite of bikers so prevent collisions. There is a certain part of the trail that goes really close to a neighborhood (almost into someone's yard) which takes away from the "nature" feel for a minute, but it is brief so it's not too bad. The water treatment plant portion of the trail takes away from the "nature" feel for a brief moment as well. At the beginning of the trail there is a very detailed map showing all of the loops which is nice. I took a picture at the beginning so I could keep track of where we were going. I'm glad I did because the trails can get confusing. It is easy to get turned around and lost due to the trails not being marked very well. Loop 6 is disappointing, so I wouldn't waste your time completing it. However, if you begin loop 6 and come to the bridge, the creek runs through there and it's a nice place to take a break, but going further than that is a waste of time because they've cut down all of the trees that made up the trail (so there really is no trail past that point). I also enjoyed the informational signs along the trail that educate people on the types of trees that are in the area. If you're looking for a moderate to difficult trail, these are not for you. All of the trails are fairly flat and make for an easy walk. It is enjoyable on a nice fall day like today and would be good for a relaxing stroll and good for kids. All in all this is a great trail to hike on. We...
Read moreI’m a 52-year-old fairly active guy who just recently took up mountain biking. Up to now, I’ve only ridden the trails at Lake Tawakoni State Park and a few others, but Squabble Creek in Rockwall really took things up a notch.
This trail is definitely exhilarating and exciting—much more of a challenge than what I was used to. It’s labeled “intermediate,” and for most experienced riders, I’m sure that fits. But for someone like me, still new to the sport, it felt closer to advanced. That said, I didn’t wreck, didn’t fall, and didn’t have any issues—just had to stop a couple times to make sure I was going the right direction.
The trail is well-marked and offers a great variety. There are sections where you can really test your skills with quick turns and narrow tree runs, and other parts where you can zoom through with the wind in your face. The covered bridges over the lowlands are a fun touch, and the stretches along the creek are just plain beautiful.
Overall, it was a great ride. I had a blast, learned a lot, and I’ll definitely be...
Read moreJust ok. I want to give more than 2 stars, but I can't. Trails have markings but the markings will not keep you on track. The hiking trail that went under the road/bridge does not exist. It is just an overgrown clearing behind a residential neighborhood. (although I was able to get my ankle wrapped around a 10 ft piece of barb wire that was in the middle of the field marked hiking trail). The mosquito's almost carried me away even though I had repellant on. The trail along the creek was the best part. Unfortunately, the loop no longer loops and I had to backtrack after giving up on trying to find the path that once made the loop. Its not worth commuting more than 15 minutes to get to the park...
