Update after living here for almost 4 years:
Management has changed again and unfortunately it is for the worse. The new property manager is never in the office and barely responds to emails. If she responds it is days to weeks later and is not helpful or empathetic. She is quick to respond when she wants to use your apartment for a tour but will not respond to other important issues like noise, or moving out information. The previous property manager was way more empathetic even if she didn’t have an answer she would respond in a timely manner. Also there is no consistency with protocols. Things change with each property manager. I will say however the regional manager Nicola is very kind and super helpful. Once again I am not sure if the current property manager is overwhelmed and maybe that is why it takes time for her to respond, which is understandable. But they need to work on this. Maintenance is still great! They come almost immediately put in a request. The noise however has literally forced me to move out. If you’re a student or have small children I do NOT recommend you can’t study from home.
Previous review:
Management has made a huge improvement! However, this apartment complex infrastructure wise and location is NOT ideal for any work from home person, students, anyone who has to have meetings etc at home. The walls are not sound insulated at all. I can literally hear my neighbors alarm every morning. Also there is a some sort of shop right behind the building that literally opens at like 6/7am and closes around 6/7pm and makes constant noise. It sounds like constructing 24/7 and its been there at least for the three years i have been here. I have had to leave my house for residency interviews because its so loud especially if you live on the back side of the apartment. You will not be able to sleep in past 6/7am on M-Sat. because of the shop. The apartment itself also is poorly insulated for sound as I mentioned. I can hear verbatim conversation and I'm sure they can hear me. Since I moved in i have only been able to study from 12 midnight to about 5am. Around 6 am the shop behind the building will start banging. Also try to aim to live on the 6th floor. If someone lives above you and they are heavy footed or they stomp, have kids or a dog you are going to hear every step. So please beware, yes management has greatly improved but the NOISE is not sustainable. If you are going to not be at home from 9am-9pm Then I would say this place is okay but if you need to be in your home from 9am-9pm just get noise cancelling head phones and even that will not be sufficient. Many times on my interviews and meetings they make comments about the noise in the background. Like you pay to live here you should be able to work from home and take meetings etc but I usually have to leave even if it is for an hour. Also the intercom does not work. I think it worked 1 time for me and now for the past 3 years I have had to go down stairs and open the door for everyone. So it seems minor but its inconvenient.
Takeaways: if you must live here be ready for noise but the ideal units to live in are on the 6th floor or the apartments in the middle of the building not on the perimeter. Those ones either face the noisy building shop in the back or the loud...
Read moreUpdate: We moved out on July 31, 2023 from Unit 628.
We are in the process of moving out and the management has made the process more difficult than necessary when we let them know in advance. They enrolled us with their insurance for $12.50 when they know we are moving out. Waiting on a refund. Facilities are well maintained with a nice gym and gym classes have great trainers. There are monthly events which are also nice. Maintenance are readily available. The cleaning crew are a pleasure to have. Great location. Indoor parking garage is a bonus. This apartment does not use the Livly app Packages feature. Livly posts and comments are always under review. I’ve been frustrated many times with package delivery issues. Neighbors can be rude with not abiding with the policy of using their own latch code to enter the package room to prevent stolen packages. I’ve had items say they’re delivered, and I couldn’t find them anywhere. Then packages would show up days later. If you listen to the rules they have of using your own latch code, neighbors will start an argument with you because they don’t care to abide to the emails sent to use their own latch code. Fire alarm has been a major trigger for me, especially in the middle of the night and when working remotely in the middle of meetings. If you have ligyrophobia, I suggest not choosing to stay here because of the sudden fire alarm. During my time here, there has never been an actual fire. There are dogs, so if you have cynophobia, then this apartment would also not be the place for you as you may have a neighbor with a dog or be in the elevator with one. There are neighbors who will not wait for you to exit the elevator to enter with their dog and will immediately walk in while you’re still getting out. The material is very cheap for this apartment. You’ll notice cracks, mold, and missing/ broken pieces in your unit. You’ll find centipedes and silverfish insects on the ceiling, walls, and floor. It was sad to first move into an apartment and find cracks and mold on shower head and in the sinks. When I first moved in, I was also surprised the remote battery was dead and the Foosball table was broken / has no balls to play with in the lounge. The lounge room needs a major upgrade. There was also a severe odor smell for a few days in the bedroom that was difficult to find the cause of but it had finally went away. The silverfish and centipede insects are a major concern and even after spraying, they were back within a few days. The cost of this apartment should not be higher than $2,000 a month for a 1 bedroom because of the very cheap material used...
Read moreGiving this complex 2 stars as it is not the worst apartment complex out there and is reasonably affordable compared to other apartments in north Jersey area. However, there are definitely issues that I have noticed during the 12 months I have lived here and I would have loved to know these prior to moving in:
Fire alarms! It feels like a college dorm. They go off multiple times in a month and typically in the middle of the night when you are asleep. If you are over the age of 25 and are over the college phase of your life, prepare yourself for being woken up by fire alarms and having to evacuate the building at 2am.
Poor management. It is nearly impossible to get in touch with anyone. They will not email you back, or pick up the phone, or respond to voicemails left for the management office. The only time I see employees working in the office is when they are actively giving a tour to a future resident. Aside from that, there is no one but the maintenance employees working here and if there are any issues as a resident (aside from maintenance requests) good luck getting any response or help.
Parking. The lower level parking garage floods. Recently flooded and totaled over 30 resident’s cars, including my own. Very little was done by the property to accommodate the tenants that were affected by this. Hopefully this was a one time occurrence, but as the lower level garage is technically below street level and I have seen the lobby flood multiple times…no guarantee that it will not happen again. Aside from that, you have to pay for parking and people will park in your spot regardless. Street parking isn’t the worst but street cleanings twice a week can make it difficult.
Some positives: Apartment is a nice size, the gym and game room are nice to use, I do not have any issues with hearing my neighbors or the people above or below me, location is great, maintenance employees have been friendly and responsive with all my...
