This was so cool. In the 1980's a guy whose last name is Anderson was in oil, and he was also an amazing painter of landscapes. He would travel around the world for his job then come back and paint. There are quite a few of his paintings there.
He decided to buy some houses in Roswell and make a scholarship where six artists can come each year and spend an entire year only on their art. At the end of the year, the museum purchases at least one item from each of them. It is super amazing. There are so many different mediums of the art there. They also each get to have a showcase of their art.
They have a beautiful full size grand piano. I am a good pianist but not a great one. The museum was not busy, so they let me play the piano for about a half hour. It was incredible.

The art rotates regularly, so there is always something new to see. We try to visit this museum every month or so in order to see all that they bring to our town! They not only showcase the works of their RAIR resident artists, but they also host other creative groups and events as well.

Read moreThe Anderson Museum was such a highlight of my lengthy road trip across the country. I was just searching Google maps to see what there was to do in town, and came across this museum. I didn’t really have any specific expectations going in, but this place honestly blew me away.
I’ve been to some of the biggest art museums in the world and been less impressed. Pound for pound, I don’t think any other art museum has had so many pieces that I found compelling.
