What a wonderful feature to the sweet town of Roswell NM! My husband and I visited on a Saturday and enjoyed the entire museum. We ended up becoming members as well: museums like this deserve support. As part of their collections, they have works by Salvador Dali, Georgia O'Keefe, and even Rembrandt. Historic artifacts range from Native American culture to contemporary art and the work of rocket scientist Goddard of the 1940s. Spanish explorers and cowboys fill multiple rooms, offering a visual history of the Southwest. We were truly entertained and amazed by all the exhibits. The museum shop, too, offers some very nice eclectic original pieces from local and national artists. Don't miss the sculpted pieces made from film celluloid!!!!!!! Please do come to Roswell and visit the Museum: they also have a planetarium attached and offer various programs along with 2nd Saturday events for Roswell residents! In the months of November and December, they also have a juried Artisan Market, where you can see and purchase gorgeous works of art created by artists from Roswell, New Mexico, and some other states as well! PLUS (YES, THERE'S MORRRRRRRE!!!!!) Their classes are fabulous and so affordable! Take a clay class there!!! You will not regret it because their clay guru Aria Finch is a phenomenal artist and extremely patient and gifted instructor! Visiting this museum will truly enhance your life...

Having traveled all over the country visiting art museums I had very little expectations going into the RMAC however the art was well curated and an interesting assortment of artists. I was unable to see a large portion of the gallery because myself and my family were accosted by the security team. Apparently my 3 year old niece who couldn't run if she wanted too must have taken too big of steps, because in their eyes she was "running". Honestly I believe from the moment we walked in we became victims of bullying and were targeted. The security guard looked at us in disgust as we entered and we were treated like second class citizens. I assure you that we are anything but second class, we were all dressed appropriately and our family acted appropriately within the museum. The security team needs to be retrained on the proper treatment of guests or the RMAC needs to institute a "no children" policy because obviously in the 15 mins we were there we were NOT welcome. As a major contributor to the arts and a new resident of Roswell I now know where I will NOT be...

If you are going to this museum for primarily extraterrestrial related exhibits than you should really save your time and money. Now that is not to say that this museum was a waste of time. The museum was very clean and had excellent exhibits. There were a number of exhibits regarding Native Americans, weapons and the first rockets ever launched by the United States. There is also a very exciting planetary laser show in the auditorium at the museums entrance. The show is held several times a day at set times that you will be informed of at the front desk. There is also a fair amount of interesting art that is on display there. Roswell sure had a lot of extraterrestrial paraphernalia in the town but things like this museum teach you little more about the town. I believe you and your family will have a fun time navigating...

Stunning museum, way more stuff on show then I ever thought. Probably one of the best small town museums I've ever been to, totally worth the entry fee and an hour to walk around in the air conditioning. Huge exhibits to art, science and history. Rocketry room donated by the Goddard's was a fascinating look at the early days of rocket science in America. All sorts of interesting details of the tools and equipment used. Huge number of historical artifacts as well, from ancient New Mexico history, to early guns and weapons used in a range of conflicts, even a couple of suites of armor! Staff was helpful and kind, entire place was clean and cool.

Need a real museum after looking at UFOs? Come here for some excellent art AND science. The center is free, and has both art and exhibits on Robert Goddard, father of rocketry. Check out a display of his workshop, and go outside to see a sculpture of Goddard getting ready to launch a rocket. I'm not usually an art person, but I really enjoyed the variety of art on display, both by local artists and artists that have done a residency in Roswell in the past. There's art to please everyone's tastes. This was a much more enjoyable and satisfying experience than the UFO museum, and was the highlight of my visit to Roswell.
