Great place to go for a leisure walk as it’s a flat and paved trail. The sound of the running water is so soothing. I would have loved to stay there longer just to enjoy the sound. There are lots of trees to make nice shade. I wish I had my dogs with me as several people brought theirs. Bikes, skateboards or scooters would be fun to cruise along the paved trail beside the river. There is a small playground and picnic tables as well with a bathroom nearby. However I advise you bring soap because there wasn’t any when we went. Also, there are cute little houses to find along the path like a scavenger hunt. Side note, my more adventurous son and husband took a trail up the mountain that’s at the park. I didn’t go because the path had a lot of loose rocks and I fall easily, but they had a great time. Other note, there are little restaurants nearby so you can easily get some grub for the family. In addition, there’s a fun amusement park across the street if you want to check that out in the same day. Lastly, it is not a big park and there is not a lot of parking, but it didn’t get full when we went, but it might at...
Read moreCame here last year and really loved the park, creek and walk/trail. What really made it special last year for the walk was the Fairie & Troll houses along the whole trail marked with Fairy wands and a Fairy Map that kids could get out of a box at the start of the trail. Added a magical touch to a normal city park. My daughter has talked about the Fairy Trail since last year and was so excited to find all their houses again this year, but instead she cried the whole walk because all the Fairy Houses are gone. If the City or Parks department made the decision to take them down then they should have taken down the Fairy Map and Story sign at the start of the trail. My only negative is more of a hope that they bring them back, maybe for repairs or upgrades, because again it was such a simple and magical touch to a...
Read moreThe park is certainly a fun place to visit and there are rides for all ages. There are a number of rides and/or other amusements available that are not too expensive. I think the rides were $6 or $7.
I would suggest that people try the boat ride with the water Canon or the go karts. We also did the maze, which was fun. However, if you do the maze be prepared to do a lot of walking and to be in the maze for a while, as the maze is very well done.
The maze does have several "early out" exits available for those who may not want to complete the maze. If you are looking for something fun to do in Ruidoso then the river park is one of those places to visit. Also, of you get thirsty or need something to cool you down, then try one of the snow cones. I had the "blue coconut", I think it was called and it...
