Dollar General — Local services in Ruidoso

"I want to start by saying that the staff at this Dollar General location are truly amazing people. My frustration and disappointment are directed solely at the corporate level. Dollar General, you have failed as a company that claims to be family-based and neighborhood-friendly. Your processing and policy standards regarding waste are deeply concerning and demonstrate a lack of compassion for the communities you serve. It is unacceptable that employees are instructed to throw away brand new, undamaged toys into dumpsters. In a town like Ruidoso, where many individuals and families are experiencing homelessness and hardship, this practice is particularly disheartening. These discarded items could bring joy and a sense of normalcy to children who have lost so much. The cost to your corporation of donating these toys would be negligible compared to the positive impact it could have. Instead of contributing to landfill, you could be offering a powerful lesson in humanity and demonstrating genuine care for your neighbors. A small investment in logistics to deliver these items to local organizations or even a designated free area outside your store could make a world of difference. Because of this policy, I will no longer be a customer at any Dollar General location, and I know of at least 30 other customers who feel the same way. The store was very organized and well stocked. The issue is the bratty employee who wasn't wearing a mask, no name tag or sign to say they are the employee, and got upset when I went up to the register and interrupted his smoke break. This was 3/16 in the morning if that helps to identify the employee. However, it's very rude he wasn't wearing a mask or anything to identify him. I always greet the employee who is helping me, however, he didn't care. He has no customer service skills and need to get his head out of his behind. Very disrespectful...

Came here around 7pm on a weekday. Staff were extremely friendly and attentive.

There’s a free parking lot right next to the store.

The store itself is really messy, though. Many things lying on the ground, some shelves completely empty.

It’s sad. There’s so much potential, especially because the employees are so brilliant.

Perhaps, the management could invest a bit more into upkeep. More employees, better organization and nicer presentation will bring...
