Wanna know a secret about the Capt'n Chucky's in Runnemede? Between where I live in Cherry Hill, NJ and this Runnemede location there are three very well known seafood resellers and even one other Capt'n Chucky's location and I still prefer driving to the Runnemede store location for most, if not all, of my seafood needs. Wanna know why? Well besides the food being top-notch (and it is from the outstandingly fresh and top quality: 8 or 9 different types of crab cakes they sell; to the bacon wrapped scallops; to the best darn shrimp salad any person could ask for; and for their outstanding soups) it is the owners Paul and Maryann that make the drive there completely worthwhile. They are there for their customers. Whether you are trying out their food for the first time, or a customer like me who was there the 2nd day they opened, slightly drooling at all the options, they treat you like family. Warmth, good conversation, humor and kindness and a constant willingness to be helpful. That's what customer support used to be like and with Paul and Maryann - it's that way again. And that is the "secret" I mentioned earlier about this Runnemede location: Great food and great customer service. You cannot and will not go wrong walking into 754 W Clements Bridge Rd, Runnemede, NJ 08078. I actually consider myself "fortunate" to...
Read moreI've been meaning to come here since they opened this location, probably close to 6 months now. I finally stopped in right before close and grabbed a 1/2 pint of Shrimp salad and a Mega Crab Cake.
I was hoping for a hot crab cake sandwich there, but it's more a Market than a restaurant. No points deducted there though.
The shrimp salad was very good. Not 100% perfectly cooked, but not overcooked either. But where it shines is it's really just big - and I mean BIG - pieces of shrimp, light mayo, small cuts of celery for crunch and spices. No filler at all. $10 for a half pint of that stuff by itself is a killer deal. Get a $.65 roll from Del Buonos and slap this shrimp salad on it with maybe a little hot sauce and that's a meal my friend.
The crabcake was $13 and change but was a very good size. Mostly crab meat, very thin breadcrumb on the outside only, not much binder or filler. Was very tasty and you definitely know it's a big ol' crabcake.
Overall, I'll be...
Read moreUpon arriving I was greeted with outstanding costumer service! I had a lot of questions and they were happy to answer all of them. All the seafood and dips looked absolutely amazing and they took the time to help me narrow down my choices! The crab cakes are out of this world with a majority of it being full chunks of crab! The wasabi crab dip was excellent. Highly recommend Captain Chucky’s if you’re cooking for a big group and are in the mood for fresh seafood. Definitely...
