I haven't been to my favorite supermarket for almost two years. I live in Chico, Northern California. Yesterday I came here and I bought a lot of things. When I checked out, I spent about $365. After the cashier gave me the coupon, I went to the roast duck counter. The male salesperson helped me cut half a roast duck. The person who collected the coupon was a middle-aged lady with glasses. I gave her the coupon, and I found that she kept counting it over and over again. I asked her if I gave it to you correctly? She looked up and said to me with a cold face, "Pay another five cents, because I don't speak English well and my ears are not good. I didn't understand what she said. She was even more ferocious and shouted at me with five cents in her hand! I told her I would give you another coupon. She said she didn't have change for me. I told her I didn't need this change! I went to another counter to buy fried fish, but she ignored me and went to take care of another lady. It was too late and I couldn't wait any longer. I gave the remaining coupons in my hand to an elderly couple. I know that her work quality does not represent every employee working in this supermarket. I will come here again in the future. But I don't want to see this...
Read moreI love coming here because it's one of the biggest grocery asian grocery stores in the area.
They have a wide selection of grocery items. Many different types of veggies, cabbages, and plants you can't buy at a traditional American grocery chain store. I personally love the mini Napa cabbages, green baby bok choy, and pea leaves. They have a bunch of fruit ranging from mangoes to Chinese fuji apples to dragonfruit and young coconut, as well as the traditional stuff.
Their meat selection is wide too. They have fresh live crab, tilapia, lobster, clams, and more on top of their other fish species on ice. Lots of red and white meat. You can buy beef soup bones to make your beef broth or pho.
They are lacking on vegan options - could not find any dehydrated soy products!
Lots of alcohol, Asian crackers, and rice selection as well.
Bakery includes freshly baked breads. There is also a deli for hot lunches which is okay.
Lots of people visit on weekends, so parking lots and registers can...
Read moreIt's a huge place, so there's plenty to choose from, but it seems like it's focused mostly on Chinese ingredients and brands. Their prices aren't the best, at least compared to KP Market. I did buy a lot from their bakery since they had a lot of things that I would like, but... they tasted terrible. Literally all of them. Everything was tasteless, except for the chocolate croissant (which was tasteless except for the paltry amount of bitter chocolate inside). The custards and cream cheese fillings aren't sweet like you'd expect. I thought they couldn't possibly ruin the cupcake (it's basically just an angel food cake), but I was proven horribly wrong. Somehow it even had a subtle savory taste that I couldn't place. Like how??? Not only that but it was basically just bread. Not a sweet bread either; just tasted like flour and water really. I'll stick with KP Market, even if I have to go out of my way...
